Non- alcohol drinkers BEWARE
Sat down for dinner-- and nearly 4 different servers asked if we wanted a cocktail or wine-- When we replied N0-- Cold shoulder the rest of the evening- we were slow to be served- the waiter failed to describe the menu- Bread--forget about it. The message is clear -- If you are check is not going to be huge- away with you Food was average at best.

Love the new Veritas
Had dinner with 3 friends this week and had been to Veritas in past years, to be honest was not sure what to expect, but was this a great great meal along with service and the best wine book in the country. The food was simple, playful and the combinations of flavors were off the charts.Try it

Expectations vs. Reality
I had several terrific recommendations from friends who swear by Veritas. So I suppose my expectations were very high. There was almost no way not to get a little disappointed by the encounter with reality. The dinner was certainly good. Though considering a rather steep price, it should have been better. I started with a lentil soup, which was far from special. For my main course, I went with the waiter's recommendation -- Woolly Pig. It wasn't bad (plus a generous portion) but the pork loin was on the dry side. The most fulfilling part of the evening turned out to be dessert. My bread pudding was excellent. The service was courteous throughout. My conclusion: a good place but unjustifiably expensive.

Veritas, all the hype, don't bother
Heard so much about this place and we were sooooo dissapointed. The service was not good. The staff were so uptight and that left us very uneasy. We waited a long time for eomeone to even come to great us. At prices like this, would were hoping for so much more... We would never go back, nor recommend.

Excellent meal, great overall experience
Went to Veritas for the first time with the new chef. We sat in the very front of the restaurant, by the bar, so the atmosphere was much more casual than on my previous visits, when we had always sat in the back. The food and service were terrific -- the food on a par with almost any place in NYC.

Veritas Should Be Called Dubious
On Saturday, October 31st, my wife and I and my brother and his wife “dined” at Veritas in Manhattan and had a surprisingly bad experience. For starters, my brother and I both ordered the Pimiento al Piquillo which the menu described as “red peppers stuffed with chorizo and pork belly”. When they came, they were tasty but there was no sign of any chorizo anywhere. The dish tasted markedly incomplete, especially for chorizo devotees like us. For entrees, my brother and I ordered the sliced duck breast with figs and foie gras stuffed grapes. The duck came and was fine, but there was no sign of fig anywhere! Discerning a pattern, I cut open a stuffed grape and there was no foie gras to be seen. We complained to the staff and asked for an explanation, but all we got was an apology. Service was slow and overall the evening was a huge disappointment, especially at those high prices. I’ve been to Veritas before with the earlier chef and enjoyed it but none of us would ever go back.
