Loud and just okay
Seated at 7:00.By 8:00 pretty loud. Tried the polpetti -- it was sour (old sauce?). Hanger steak okay but the side of risotto was dry. Cheesecake was like nothing I've ever seen. It was weird -- about 1/2 inch high and 2/3 rds of that was chocolate crumbs. Should be called "I cant't believe it's cheesecake".

Great
Headed to Vento tonight with a friend. We were sat right away. The waiter was VERY friendly and we were given several drinks on the house. Food was delicious!! Very pleasant experience!

Get Ready To Wait
I arrived last night on time for my 815pm reservation which I booked through opentable. I was happy to see about 5 empty tables of 2 when I arrived figuring that I would not have to wait long, yet I was told it would be about a twenty minute wait. As I stood there waiting and watching empty tables, walk ins were quoted 45 minutes for a table. Eventually I asked why I was being made to wait since there were now 7 empty tables, and I was told that they did not want to overwhelm the kitchen. I then looked up and realized the lights on the 2nd floor were on full blast because that level was closed! How can you overwhelm a kitchen that was built to serve a full outdoor section and two indoor levels (400 seats at a time)? BY NOT PROPERLY STAFFING YOUR KITCHEN. I saw the weather forecast of 80 degrees for yesterday two weeks ago, surely you can predict that it will be busier than last Sunday. If they want to pull that shit on the 90% of customers who were walkins, that is one thing, but don’t annoy customers who took the time to make a reservation. I only stuck around cause I had a gift card that I wanted to use. In the end I was seated after waiting a half hour. At that point there were TEN empty tables of two. To make it worse, I was not offered any comp drinks or appetizers for a pointless wait that was obviously due to staffing screw ups at the restaurant. I saw numerous potential walk-in customers walk away after looking at empty tables and being quoted ridiculous times. If they don’t get their act together they will have to close more than the 2nd level of Vento.

not as good as it used to be
I've been to Vento 4 or 5 times and have absolutley loved it each time until I went there Saturday night. We had the meatballs and vento chopped salad to start, which were both excellent and then orderd what is usally my favorite pasta on their menu, carbonara. They must have changed the recipe because this was more of a fettuccini alfredo and not nearly as tasty as I remember from previous visits. Also, we ordered a second round of drinks as we were finishing our appetizers and they didn't come until after we finished our dinner, which was really disappointing because the service there is usually great.

Great night out
I recently went to Vento on a Friday night and was able to enjoy a wonderful New York evening. I was with a friend and we shared a bunch of apps and split three entrees. We enjoyed a great bottle of wine and when the bill came was extremely surprised at the reasonable price.

non-plussed
when vento first opened i thought it was another "hit" from the b.r. guest group. but the last couple of visits has been far less than impressive. food was very bland - do they not season anything? we ordered so many apps and entrees and all lacked flavor. i don't know why the mp disrict has such difficulty getting a restaurant that has great ambience and great food.

Never again
We first called in advance asking if we can come in for "just" dessert. After being told "yes", we get in a cab, travel across town, and are then told that they are only providing full dinner service. We explained that the woman told us to come and that we would be accommodated. The maitre'd said that they have nothing available. I informed him that there were at least a dozen empty tables outside (and I don't even know how many inside because we never made it that far). He said he had to save those tables for the names on the list. I looked down at "his list" and pointed out that there were only 4 names on it. He then shrugged! I think the owner should revaluate the individuals he actually puts out front to represent him and his restaurant!
