Took my husband for his birthday/retirement dinner out with the family everybody enjoyed themselves and the stuff could not have been more helpful, food was delish piping hot and served promptly will def go back.

We celebrated my father's 80th birthday at Vela and it was a wonderful experience! My entire family is from Spain (most born and raised there) so the pressure was on to have authentic Spanish tapas for the event. My dad is from Galicia-one of Spain's gastronomic capitals -and is a stickler for authenticiy and tradition where food is concerned. I was apprehensive that Velas' contemporary twist on tapas wouldn't go over well with the birthday boy and our guests (particulalry the older ones). NO WORRIES! Everyone LOVED the food! Every dish selected met or exceeded our expectations (The dates are not to be missed!)! The restaurant is a lovely space and allows for movement and mingling which we preferred to a sit down dinner. The Sangria is out of this world! The owner was great to work with and very accommodating of the needs we had for our entertainers. The wait-staff was friendly and polite. My only reccomendations would be that the restaurant provide more servers as the wait time between plates was sometimes a little bit long as was clearing at times. Also, when there are private events it would be best if business isn't conducted during the event. Both reccomendations are minor-nothing major.Our guests left full and impressed and the birthday boy had a blast! What more could you ask for?! Overall we had a great experience and will DEFINITLEY return to dine or for future special events.

i know this is a tapas place but the portions are ridiculously small and expensive for what you're getting. also didn't like how we were asked if we wanted to sit outside in the back and then we were asked to leave later in the night because they were having a private party back there. don't ask us if we want to sit back there then! the food is ok, but nothing's really outstanding. the drinks were very good - they know how to do mojitos and sangria well, but that's about it.

Vela is a great find! I went there for brunch with my husband and 2 kids, and we couldn't have been happier. The service was excellent, and the food was out of this world. My friend has eaten here for dinner and said that everything was delicious. I must say that we never felt that being there with the kids was a problem. Quite the opposite - they were so nice to the kids, and made us feel very welcome. This is definitely a place you must try!
