The food was great atmosphere was wonderful. I expected the food to be so good but it exceeded my expectations. Definitely a place to good even if you're not vegetarian. The Cook is a genius. The service could have been a little better but the food made up for it.

The food is great but the service is subpar. The soul chicken, barbeque ribs and mango chicken is delectable.

Ordered the highly-praised Crispy Soul Chicken appetizer (tasty but waaay oily and required some teeth) and a tofu salad (pretty straightforward, lots of tofu and healthy-looking greens with good -if oily- dressing). Those two things were too much food for me. I have two chicken pieces left and most of the salad and I am stuuuuuuffed. Anyway, delivery took about 45 minutes, the delivery guy was fine, the fellow on the phone (who I ended up talking to 3 times because I was neurotic and hungry) was very polite and helpful. I'm really glad they deliver up here, because tasty (and affordable) vegetarian food is a great find. (Yes, I know red bamboo is literally right next door. Hmm.. I wonder if they deliver too?) Final score: Yum. I'll order delivery again.

The Crispy Soul Chicken is freaking amazing! I am a die hard vegetarian and I've gone to many vegetarian restaurants but the crispy soul chicken was by far the best vegetarian attempt at a chicken dish i've ever tasted. I would highly reccomend this restaurant!

I love VP2. It was the first vegetarian restaurant I tried in NYC back in 2001 and still go there today. Good value, excellent food (mmmm soul crispy chicken and wonton soup). Great restaurant to take non-veggies too. Not too intimidating and my meat eating friends thought the soul crispy chicken was "real" and the best, tender chicken they've ever had.

This restaurant has been my fav veg restaurant for at least 6 years straight. The food is excellent! If you're looking for a place to eat good food, stop by. However, the restaurant is pretty tiny and usually crowded so be prepared to wait a few minutes for a table. Try the crispy soul chicken--it's the best! The corn nuggets are also great.
