Vee's #1 Restaurant

Vees has gone through a much needed makeover. I ordered curry goat & stew chicken and was not disappointed. The owner was there and she actually had a smile on her face. I can't say that for the rest of the staff, but if you are looking for good authentic Jamaican food then Vee's is the place. To ensure that your order is correct speak slow & clear. Forget about calling in orders when you get there you still have to wait.

Vee's has been in the neighborhood for many years, more than twenty.... they know how to cook, the food is clean and tasty. The quality of food is good and choices are right. Peas and rice, curry, traditional styled porridges and foods. I go there whenever I can. I especially enjoy ox-tails, chicken or the red snapper dish. They offer good food value where you don't feel slugged the next day. Cheap enough to take home extras too....

I am new to this area and used to stay elsewhere. I like to patronize local businesses and try them all and people are just crazy about this place. It is open real late which is convenient. The interior is blah and the counter people are sullen. I asked for the curry shrimp on the black board and you would have think I ordered something in Hebrew. Girl just looked at me real long like she was confused. I nodded to the board. Then she moved real slow and came back with a big eraser. She removed that shrimp and half of the choices on the board. "no more" she pronounced. So I had the curry chicken and a salad. She gave me a little styrofoam box a big mac would feel claustrophobic in. I asked her "my chicken and rice are in here?" Mmmhuh. Oh, don't forget my salad. "It's all there" she assured. Well at home I unpacked the most unpleasant mess. Some old lettuce and mealy tomatoes on top of hot chicken and greasy rice. I swear that rice was cooked with a gallon of motor oil. The chicken was this real funny bones with not much meat and then ribbons of soft, curried skin. Eew! It was like curried latex glove. So unless I am starving real late I am going to avoid Vees.

food nice, service slow. owners face alway grumpy. needs to be more pleasant
