Excellent value!
I have eaten at Vatan many times and found the food absolutely wonderful. It is a bit pricey but certainly not VERY expensive. Be sure to be hungry when you get there and itmay be wise to reserve in advance.

Riff Off of the Worst Kind
Fixed menu(I mean same 1 fix menu for eternity) and call it unlimited comprising of few vegetarian dishes of owners fancy and call it authentic, 90% of them fried and oily, sugar and Jaggery added to every dish, garish interior (anyone who says authentic has no idea what one is talking about), very abrupt service (there is nothing to serve anyway) a price tag sooo high..., out of proportion on any scale for the quality of food and to top it a service charge. Try many options at many other places at Lexinton & 26,27,28 streets or at many more options for $9/- or less or even McDonalds! My experience has been so disappointing, not only I shall ever return there but never ever suggest the place to anyone again!

Disappointed
I found the restaurant overly expensive for the vegetarian food of mediocre quality. The food was oily and there was way too much fried stuff. The variety of food did not compensate for taste, which was mostly tasteless. The food is far from authentic Indian, it has a strong flavour of Gujrati Regional food. A service charge (tip) of 18% was pre-added to the bill, that was preposterous. Tip is not the right but customer's privilege.

Delicious, plentiful, pricey!
Admittedly, I was not very hungry when I went here for an early dinner. This was probably a mistake. I was barely able to taste all of the wonderful appetizers and entrees they served, let alone finish them. Despite what anyone else has said here, the food is very high quality Indian vegetarian cuisine and a great place to go if you are new to Indian food. You get to have as much as you want of anything that you like. The service was very helpful and attentive and the food was served quite quickly. Everything was delicious. The price was a bit steep though, but if price is no object for you, then certainly the food is worth it.

So Thirsty...
Great "theme park" looking interior and really friendly service. Food was rather indistinct from other Indian places. However, there must be something in it, because I was thirsty for hours after. Not going back.

All Starch Dining
White flour, white rice, sugar up the wazoo - yikes!
