Wonderful, fresh food
We've visited NYC 5 out of the last 6 years. This trip we visited Varenichnaya for the second time. We had harcho soup (lamb, veggies, rice, etc.) Fantastic soup! We also had vareniki, salad and bread - all very fresh and tasty. Last year we had pelmeni (dumplings) stuffed with chicken w/fresh dill and sour cream - delicious! Friendly, quick service, had a nice chat with owner who told me about her soup. Will return (even though it took 45 min. to an hour from Manhattan) every time we visit NYC. It is well worth the trip - also walk around the neighborhood and visit all the Russian (and other ethnic) stores and food shops.
