Omg!
I came to this place on a whim with my sister. We loved the food. The pasta is to die for. Definitely coming back

Fills a niche
The Union Square area was seriously lacking a reasonable pedestrian Italian/Pizza establishment (not counting Patsy's). Most, along with some decent delis, were forced out in the last few years by rising rents. Though a really good pizza parlor has moved in just a block away, Vapoiano's arrival is a nice change to the banks that have been sprouting up in every available storefront. I've been there twice, once ordering the fettuccine alfredo with chicken, and the second ordering the pizza. Prepared fresh infront of you is a great idea but the pasta was not stirred enough and all the ends formed a mass lump of dough that was inedible. Sauce and chicken were great.I like the idea of the edible garnish, basil plants, growing in little pots on the tables. No bread and olive oil was available to eat with the meal, very surprising. The pizza, individual pies, was great. Though it took a little while to make the wait was worth it. Beverages are expensive, double the price from a local deli and triple grocery store prices. Except for the cooks behind the counter it's all self service which is why I gave a zero for service.

great overall experience
An itialian concept that delivers on all fronts. i've told all my foodie friends to add Vapiano to their lists.

Great new concept in Italian!
I've been here twice now (in one week... I don't have a problem...) and I'm impressed! I mean, Italian places in the city are a dime a dozen, but this place is fun. I like that they cook it right in front of you; it's fresh, fast, and you can order it the way you like it. The food is great! So far I've had their Pesto e Spinaci - Light Cream Pesto Sauce, with fresh Spinach and Tomatoes - um... yummers! I had their Lemon Scampi pasta, which was fresh, light, and delicious. I had their fresh fig pizza, which was phenomenal. And the decor of the restaurant is clean, modern, and beautiful. The staff is helpful and nice. The prices are good for the portion size, so far I've always taken home a doggy bag and had plenty for dinner the next night. In fact, I'm craving this place right now... this could be dangerous, since it's only a few blocks away.

The best bruschetta!! i asked for it with fresh mozzerella added on top of the bread. sooo good! The chicken caesar salad was also good.

Fun place, great food and reasonable prices
Twice in one week. The first time a friend brought me and then I brought friends later that week. I loved the greek salade and the pizza with mushrooms and ham. The self seating, cafeteria style is when you're in the mood for that kind of thing. . Upstairs is cozy and quieter for conversations. Good to be with friends or to be on your own for a lovely salade and glass of wine The price is right. So glad Vipano has come to Manhattan. ... Hey how about one in Brooklyn???
