Excellent dumplings and very cheap. Try the mango smoothie. It's the best in the city. Order ahead before you get there during lunch. It gets quite busy during the week at lunch time!

Short of going to Chinatown for dumplings and sesame pancakes, this place really fills the void for the 14th Street area. The food here is very very tasty. However, the onsite service is disorganized. I've been to many Chinese kitchens during high-volume lunch hours where I'm just awestruck at the efficiency amidst the chaos. Unfortunately, every single time I've visited Vanessa's, the staff seem unable to sort out the orders, they appear confused and overwhelmed, and this is with less than HALF of the business other Chinese kitchens receive on a regular basis. This often leaves me and, by observation, other customers in the queue wondering if I actually received the correct order--- which in the end is miraculously all in order. With that being said, I have never had a problem with the delivery service-- surprisingly, it arrives fast and the food is piping hot. Vanessa's has great products, but if they are really looking to succeed, they will need to please focus on improving the in-house experience--- otherwise they'll continue hearing from me by phone.

Everything that I have had here has been excellent. I personally recommend the hot and sour soup within which delicious mushrooms abound, the veggie boilded dumplings are delicious, and the buns are really nicely made and tasty. I also really enjoy the noodle dumpling soup...I think I'm heading over there now.

I ate here yesterday. The food was pretty good and relatively cheap but the service was poor. I waited nearly 1/2 for a plate of dumplings. Seemed very disorganized. Will probably not be going back based on the service alone.

Thank goodness I live right around the corner because this place is Amazing! Clean and friendly staff with food that is so cheap it'll make you look twice at the menu. Steamed dumplings are the best, but take a few minutes to cook. Fried dumpings are instant. Sesame Pankcakes and the Pork Buns are just as good. Hidden treasure on the menu--chicken teriyaki over lo mein. Huge portion and great flavor..must get! Food is flavorful and filling.

Good place in the area. Dumplings are cheap and good and the sesame pancake is a hit.

I love this place. It is tasty and cheap. The service isn't always great and the atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but it is easy to look past that.
