    yum!!!

The margaritas here are awesome, all different flavors....cilantro, basil, tamarind, etc. And not cheesy neon frozen ones, but real shaken margaritas. The apps are out of this world. I do agree with some people that it is a little overpriced, but the two for one margaritas at happy hour (frozen) are the best frozen ones i have ever had, i normally don't like them. But these were not to sweet and I was pretty drunk off of two! Dont expect a big order when you get the nachos, they are TINY, but they are the best nachos I have ever had. All in all a great neighborhood spot.

Go for Taco Night on Mondays

The place is clearly over-priced, but if you like fresh soft tacos, go on Monday night when its all-you-can-eat taco night. They even throw in a margherita, and the whole thing is like 20 bucks. I go once a month with my buddy and between us we polish off about 5 orders (10 tacos) each! Lets cut them a little slack, given the lack of decent dining options around sty town, its nice to atleast have a clean, elegant place to grab some food. Just dont do ala carte!

    Great food

I get to go to Vamos at least three times a week, and I have yet to have a negative experience. For brunch their chicken sandwich is to die for, their drinks are the best in the area. A major thing that keeps me going to Vamos is the cleanliness, they have an open kitchen so you can see exactly what's going on with your food, and their bathrooms are spotless, which can tell you a lot about the rest of the establishment. The ambiance is good, the crowd is young and the music loud. You can really have fun at vamos ! And on sat night you can even see the bar crowd dancing to the DJ.

    Nice place, but pricey

I've been here a couple of times and I can say that the food is pretty good. You won't be disappointed by the food itself, but the prices bring down the value of Vamos!. I like the atmosphere a lot, which makes it a great place to come for drinks. Lastly, the service is just okay. It's especially slow when they're busy. Recommendations/Observations: 1) All you can eat tacos on Mondays (otherwise the tacos are good, but not really worth the price) 2) Nachos - Awesome! 3) Soup - Too watery, not enough substance

    Good Advice

Ok, so the other reviews are pretty acurate. I don't remember the service being so bad, but I do remember having to wait for things to come to the table. The margaritas, while pricey, are very good. What we like to do is go there, order margaritas and guacamole. After that we go home and order Chexican (mexican food made by chinese people) and a six pack of Corona and then call it a night. Ole!

    Great Mexican!

Definitely not your average Mexican food. If you've ever been to Mexico (I mean Mexico, not touristy Cancun or Rosa Tex Mex), you will appreciate the food at VAMOS. WOW!! My girlfriend tried the Cochinita, which is a slow-cooked pork dish. OMG, it was spicy & flavorful! Wash that down with their signature margaritas! Between the six of us we tried out all their margaritas and our favorites were the fresh watermelon and the blood orange. To start we tried their special guacomle made- to-order with roasted pineapples. Yes, It was as good as it sounds. The mushroom quesadilla was delicious, not overstuffed, simple and tasty. We didn't feel rushed and the music was fun. Definitely the place to enjoy great Mexician food and margaritas!! This is our Monday night girls' night hangout.

    ¡No Vamos!

The only reason this place is still in business is the built-in patrons from StuyTown and PCV. Period. This place and its neighbor, Petit Abeille, are probably the two worst food experiences I've had in more than a decade of eating in this city. They clearly only survive b/c they're the only two 'decent' places within several blocks of the mammoth ST/PCV residential complexes. I even gave both places 2 chances. Is it any wonder that Petit owns Vamos? So..if you're looking for an atmosphere of unwarranted snootiness, over-priced and terrible food, pricey drinks and non-existent service, this place is for you! Stay away.
