I went to Valbella for lunch today with some co-workers. I found everything tasty but nothing special. I had a pounded piece of filet mignon stuffed and breaded. The meat was very tender and flavorful but the vegetables were very undercooked and had no flavor. For the cost I wanted everything to be edible not just the meat. The pastas that were ordered were good but not worth $30. The pasta pesto had shrimp that were overcooked. Finally I had the grand marnier souffle. The texture was wonderful but the orange rind was overpowering and the grand marnier sauce was to strong. Over all it was fun to try but as other reviewers said I could get better pasta at the local italian joint.

If youre expecting a traditional Italian restaurant then this is not the place to go. Valbella pays special attention to their meats not so much pasta. If you go here, order a veal chop, rack of lamb or their fresh fish. Dont bother ordering pasta, you will just pay a lot of money and be disappointed. Another reviewer said this restaurant pays more attention to large parties than tables for 2. I tend to agree. Whos going to leave the larger tip?

I recently went here for the first time with my boyfriend and had the best meal EVER! Yes, it is pricey...but worth every penny. I had the veal as my main course. It was drenched in a lemon white wine sauce. SOOOO good. My boyfriend had the rigatoni with meat sauce pasta, but he thought it was just OK. I thought it was delicious. It had a clean, non-greasy taste to it...didn't taste like it was loaded with oil and fat (what he likes). We had a sampler as an appetizer...shrimp, lobster tail and crab cakes...served cold. Atmosphere is very trendy and chic. Overall, a wonderful dinner!

Val Bella is over rated and over priced. If you want good Italian food at a reasonable price go to any good local Italian restaurant in your neighborhood. The food at Val Bella is not good Italian food. If you want a quiet romantic dinner, do not go to this restaurant. The noise level is impossible to hear your friends are saying. Waiters are running around but serving people who are in large parties. The bread was poor, the pasta overcooked, the sauce was not recognizable and the dessert was also poor. We had to pour our own wine and once when the waiter poured the wine, he put the decanter on the end of the table. Luckily we caught the decanter before it fell off the table. My advice, go elsewhere to eat a good meal.

I am a NYC event planner and after having dinner here three times I can only say good things. Yes, it is an expensive restaurant but you get what you pay for. The ambiance is unmatched and their truffle sauce cannot be forgotten. The desserts are incredible too. Such a great place for any type of event!

Mozzerella and tomatoes was $20. Needless to say I only ordered an entree, a $40 steak would have cost in the mid to low 30s anywhere else. They also gave me a lunch menu by accident, where I saw that there is a $3 bump between lunch and dinner. We were at a private party and the wine was poured so infrequently that I had to get up and do it myself after being ignored on one of their rare passes. Earlier at the bar they served me a Mt. Gay and Tonic in a red wine balloon glass and the served me a tumbler that was litteraly overflowing with ice so that I had to take half of it out in order to get at the one finger of Dewers that they poured in. Each of these disasters was mine for the low low price of $15. Finally they gave us, a party 12, our bill ($900 for entrees, one appetizer and wine), without the gratuity added in and then had the guts to tell us that they normally receive 20% and not 18%.

We have dined in Valbella twice with friends. The food is superb. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is sheek, trendy and classy. We had a chance to dine in the Wine rooms which is a great experience. If you are a wine lover this place is for you. The prices are high, but you get what you pay for. This is a great place and I look forward to returning.
