A real find
We only tried this place because it was a block from the store we would be shopping at. From the person who took my reservation on the phone to the farewell as we left the restaurant, everyone was professional and courteous. The place was attractive and elegant with well-spaced tables. The service was good and the food great: fish that was as fresh and tasty as you will find any place, nice appetizers and dessert. Go! Enjoy!

Amazing
This place looks so beautiful during the holidays. Just had my holiday party (early I know) and it was like a winter wonderland. I was so impressed just how above and beyond my night was. The food was delicious.

Delicious and Energetic!
Had an ejoyable dinner there this past weekend. Warm welcome when we arrived - table waiting for us. Friendly and helpful waiter. Nice "vibe" in the room with a mixture of age ranges. - energetic noise level. but conversation was still possibe. Loved the decor - cool and contemporary with white birch branches & tiny lights suspended from the ceiling, giving a warm glow & inviting feel. Now to the food.........interesting appetizers - scallops and crab w/ asparagus over a potato pancake .....baked brie with losster tail - not the usual appetizers you'd expect at an Italian restarant...all quite good. Outstanding stuffed veal chop....my son had a pasta dish w/ shrimp and scallops he thoroughly enjoyed, and my daughter-in-law's twin filet mignons with peppercorn sauce were equally good. Wine list was expensive, with the majorty of wines starting at $100....but that was to be expected. Water glasses could have been filled more frequently - that's a pet peeve of mine. I don't want to have to ask for water. Bread was never replaced, either. These are small issues, but still add to the overall experience. Now to my one complaint! Waiter asked us while we were halfway through our entrees whether we wanted to order any of the 4 desserts that required extra time. The offerings were your typical soufflee, a chocolate lava cake, some othe dessert I can't recall, and their much acclaimed Napoleon. My son ordered the lava cake and also a Napoleon, (we heard it was excellent). The waiter asked something that went right over our heads - he asked if all 3 of us will be having the soufflee - son said, Yes, we will be sharing it along with the lava cake. 2 desserts for 3 people..or so we thought OK - Napoleon came out - it was a nice sized piece, but by no means outrageously large. The waiter proceeded to divide it into 3 portions , and served us. Then the check came....We eat out a lot and in very expensive restaurants. but my son's jaw dropped when he saw the charge for the Napoleon...it was $45.00! Apparently, it is priced at $15 per person. Same as the lava cake. No one told us.So, dessert cost the 3 of us $60! The waiter never said this was how this dessert was priced. He should have explained it. Vabella owes it to their patrons to explain in advance how they charge for this dessert, as paying a total of $60 for what we thought were 2 desserts was, in my opinion, really excessive.. Overall, we enjoyed our meal - other than the Napoleon!

great atmosphere & food
I have been there several times for dinner and a few parties. I was given a party there upstairs in the pastry kitchen. It was a great time. Something different. Dinner was excellent, service was great and dessert was the best. We all had so much fun. Would highly recommend.

amazing food - amazing service
I have been here twice in the last week and there's a reason why - this place is fabulous. Hosted a dinner party for 10ppl & the staff was beyond helpful everywhere from wine selection, to every aspect of the meal. I've read some of the other reviews, and if you dont expect to spend a bit of money, stay home and order in. This is a very special place and is worth every penny. Can't wait to return next week.

Express
I am a CT Valbella patron. The NYC Valbella a very special place -- there is an upstairs to this restaurant that makes it even more special. If you are able to reserve the private room with the Pastry Chef -- you will not be disappointed -- very special and your guests will not forget the experience/occasion. I have read some of the reviews which weren't so nice not even accurate....the only comment I will agree with -- issue of sound. But lets face it -- the Meatpacking District is the place to dine. This beautifully designed restaurant is in a warehouse - acoustics are expected to be not so good. All in all our experience last night was a good one. We arrived early -- Hostess had our table ready for us but asked if we would like to be seated -- or have a drink at bar before dinner - we opted for the Bar and our table wasn't given away -- it was there waiting for us. Food was excellent, staff was attentive -- can't complain....our waiter was pleasant didnt rush us and food came out timely.
