Poor service and mediocre food
This restaurant is not good and certainly not worth the cost of eating there. Food was very mediocre. We ordered a pizza and salad as an appetizer. Pizza was oily ans soggy and the vegetables in the salad did not taste fresh. On a side note, it bothered me that the butter was in little aluminum packages - I actually thought they only had those at diners, not at restaurants with $30+ entrees. The fish I ordered was salty. My wife ordered a pasta with just vegetable and marinara sauce and after they messed up the order the waiter simply could not admit it and kept pressuring her to keep the dish. In general just an unpleasant experience with poor service and mediocre food. It was truly mind boggling how busy it was despite the many superior options in the area.

Kosher for the Un-Kosher Folk
Being a skeptic of anything kosher besides chicken and hot dogs, I have always lusted for a fine Kosher meal where there is endless supply of water and bread. Into my life has come the kosher cuisine of Rome, a small, quant upper east side establishment with echos of liberachi gracing my ear drums. First, we started with pizza bread and ice water, both very good. I ordered a Caesar salad with no anchovies and I was delighted by the freshness of the ingredients and the dressing. In addition, the portion was extremely well sized for my height. I finished off my meal with a margarita pizza, which tasted very good (I am usually underwhelmed by kosher pizza given the abundance of flour spread all over the bottom of the pie) and the sauce was delicious. Overall, I was extremely pleased, shocked, mesmerized, and dumbfounded all in one, but I think I have found my new kosher spot for every single meal I ever eat out again in my life with my kosher family. Definitely try it.

The Best Dairy in The City
My wife and i eat at this restaurant every so often never once have we had a problem. Food always served together, always cooked to perfection. All these negative reviews cant be real these people must have some underlying issue in general. My guess is they would not be happy with any restaurant.

save yourself-don't go!! sick fish, rude waiter
We just returned from Va Bene. My wife was served a piece of fish that did not look like a whole portion-looked like something left over with 2 sliced potatoes and a small portion of vegetables. I noticed my wife did not eat the fish. Actually she took one bite and spit it out. She did not want to say anything because we were with my parents who we only see once a year and not religious she didn't want them to see how bad the kosher restaurant is. I tasted the fish and it was a sick taste-something definitely wrong with it. My wife ate only some of the vegetables so as not to upset my parents. Now here is the kicker. I told the waiter that the fish was no good. He came back from the kitchen and YELLED and EMBARRASED my wife and accused us of giving back less than a full plate. He said it was a small portion back of the fish!! We noticed we were served what seemed to be less than a portion and only two bites were out the one my wife spit out and the one I ate and even from the small amount she tasted and what I tasted we didn't feel good. Something disgusting was wrong with the fish and he had the ABSOLUTE GALL to act this way. We hope to call the owner and that thi sman will not be there but we can only tell you who read this NOT TO GO TO VA BENE--EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great food, but why so rude?
The food here is excellent, and it's a beautiful restaurant, but the bad service keeps it from being a truly enjoyable dining experience. The waiters at this restaurant have a serious attitude problem. No one came to take our order for at least 10 minutes...then they couldn't understand that I wanted I order of pasta, just with two different sauces. They sent out two half orders, and then wanted to charge more! No one asked us how things were during our meal, and when the time came for dessert, the waiter just mumbled "you having anything?"

Food seems to have gotten better
My fiance and I went for dinner last night for the first time in at least a year. The food was noticeable better. If you like artichokes, the appetizer of them is amazing, and seems much larger than in the past. The penne ala vodka and gnocchi were very good (great fresh basil in the tomato sauce), and the chocolate mousse is a great dessert. The waiters also seemed to have less attitude than in the past, though the service could still be warmer and better.

Don't even think about it!
I have invited my coworkers from Long Island to a Kosher restaurant thinking it will be the best food ever, to show and talk about my culture. We went there with a professional party of seven. We arrived on time to the reservation, and waited for 20-30 minutes to be seated. It was the worst service I have ever seen. It is overpriced and waiters with attitude like you owe them something. As costumers we were completely ignored and we got no respect what so ever. It also got worse when it was time to pay they only accepted American Express and cash only. It was embarrassing from my part to my coworkers. What restaurant accepts only American Express? Welcome to reality Visa and Master Cards statistically used the most all over the world. Well if I were you I wouldn’t even think about it.
