    Pre-Fab Pizza Crust

We've been ordering or eating at V&T at least once a week for almost 5 years. They've been great until today. We got a machine-made (probably frozen) pizza crust with their toppings on it. When I called to ask why they didn't throw the pizza by hand as they had always done I got an attitude. If he had just admitted that they were trying something new or ran out of dough everything would have been fine. Instead, I was told that they've been making pizza like this for 35 years and no machine was used. The crust had the screen marks on the bottom of a production conveyor pie, rather than the smooth bottom of a slide-in oven pie. It's a shame, but we won't order from V&T again. We threw the pizza away, which we've never done before even from bad pizza places.

    Knife-and-Fork Pizza

I love V & T's pizza and eat here all the time, but I understand the complaints of reviewers who say the crust was "soggy." I don't think of it as a flaw but as a different style of pizza when I order from here, I expect to eat my pizza with a knife and fork. I love it with eggplant and fresh tomato. People who insist on eating their pizza with their hands might enjoy the slices at Sal and Carmine's on Broadway between 101st and 102nd better. Personally, I can appreciate both.

perfect place for pizza and pasta

My friends used to eat here several times a week when they lived in the neighborhood because it's an "anytime" kind of joint and they got along great with the wait staff. Recently I too became a frequenter of V & Ts. The place is a classic NYC restaurant. The staff is great and the pizza is the best in NY. My family used to own several pizza parlors and I feel awful saying this, but V & T's is truly better. The warm, fresh baked bread is a great way to hold your hungry stomach over until your meal arrives. The service is pretty fast. I recommend for take out orders as well.

    Good Pizza!

I have been going to V&Ts pizza for years. They have excellent pizza and they are a great place for parties. The staff is friendly and quick, especially when you have a large group and you think that they would be frustrated. All in All, a great place!

    A Real Neighborhood Treasure

I'm writing because I am upset to see less than sterling reviews among those here. V&Ts is a gem. The food is amazing -- best pizza and best stuffed sole in the world. (also recommend the side dish of garlic spinach) The people who work there are friendly and always make you feel welcome. It's not a glitzy place at all and that's part of the charm. It's real. The food is real. All in all, this fabulous place, perfect if you're eating alone or with a large group. And, afterwards, go to Hungarian Pastry Shop for dessert. A perfect evening out.

    Upper West Side Gem

The atmosphere is o.k. The service is good. they're mostly older gentelmen who are very nice. I had the Eggplant Rollatini and it was amazing. I recommend it. There's a great Hungarian Pastry shop next door and Saint Johns Cathedral is right across the street. very affordable restaurant too!

    Not recommended

First of all, I did not get what I ordered. I think this comes from having people with shoddy English skills answering your phones. Second the pizza was luke warm when it arrived and soggy. I also agree with what the other review said about bland crust!
