I moved to the city, immediately looking for a good neighborhood pizza place. This is it! I get their small plain pie every few weeks - enough said.

    Once is enough

Delivery order. I will say this, they were quick. The food was not so good. I ordered 2 salads and received a head of iceberg lettuce and 8 tomato slices with a mediocre dressing. The pizza was soggy soggy soggy--and I asked for it to be well done. I will not be back.

Shocked to find this neighborhood gem!

I've lived in this neighborhood 4 years and have never happened upon this amazing little find! My boyfriend found it one night so we thought we'd give it a try. The food is amazing, the service is like you're really in Italy, and the price point is commendable. Chicken Francaise makes my tummy happy. And we order a pizza about twice a month now (we're personal trainers--so that says A LOT!) So glad we found V&T. New fave.

    Our Favorite Pizza

We've been coming to the V & T since the early 60s when my husband was a student at Columbia and I worked at St. Luke's. We've tried other places, but always come back to the V & T for the gloppy pizza, "pink wine" and iceberg salad. It's now a family tradition continuing to the third generation. Nothing much has changed - we don't bother with the other stuff - we come for the pizza. Long may it continue.

    Judgemental Server

When I was sitting down at the table a fellow diner moved the menus away & knocked over a glass of water. The wait staff responded quickly to clean the spilt water on the table & floor. I ordered a Beefeater Martini which came quite fast. BUT it was severly diluted & I could not taste the herbal flavorings of the Beefeater Gin. The pizza had been ordered & I did not want to endanger the pizza outcome. In the meantime we had salad with anchovies --the filet I took looked "old" & tasted "old" Three strikes for V & T's with its judgemental server. What was supposed to be dinner treat turned into a threatening duel. Sad

    one of the best

I agree with the other posters that this is a great old neighborhood place and one of the best places for pizza in Manhattan. It has a pleasant, unpretentious atmosphere. Nothing too fancy, just good pizza. This is where you go if you want to sit down, relax, and enjoy great pizza and a glass of wine for a good value. My husband and I went here on a regular basis when we lived in the area a few years ago. We now live on the east side, but we recently headed back to V&T's because it is so good. We were happy to find that not much had changed - same great pizza, and even the same reliable wait staff. Also, a tip if you really want salad - it is mostly iceberg, but add goat cheese to it - they have very generous portions.

V&T has some of the best pizza on the upper west side and manhattan. If your looking for thin crust california style pizza, dont come, they serve it gloppy with fresh ingredients just how it's supposed to be in New York. I wouldn't order anything else other than pizza here, except for a salad, but don't listen to anybody here complaining about anything other than the pizza. Its a great old neighborhood place that has been around for many decades. It's lasted this long for a reason.
