So many times you go to dinner in NYC and the food is mediocre and the price is outrageous. This time was definately different. The food was FANTASTIC and the price fair. But I would have paid considerably more for the experience I got at Uva. Service was great....really friendly bartender. Atmosphere great....quite loud, but where can you go in NYC that isn't. Overall A++. Try the polenta.

    Perfect for any night

I live on the UES and dine out more often than I should. I'm also Italian and come from a big food family. I can be a little critical but I really, really like Uva. I've eaten here a few times with my boyfriend as well as a large group of friends. The food is very reasonably priced and the ambience is adorable. The wines by the glass can get a bit pricey so if you are interested in just a drink at night, you might want to try the wine bar across the street. Otherwise this is a cute, trendy (especially for the UES!) place to check out.

    great date spot

Went to Uva tonight, and it was great. The food was delicious, the service efficient, and the atmosphere conducive to romance and/or great conversation. The mushroom penne, gorgonzola salad, and gnocchi were to die for, and the intimate candle-lit setting had an old-world charm. I'll definitely go back. Soon.

    Best place on UES

I've been back three times in the past six months. Great ambiance, food and wine. I think they sprinkle crack on the penne, have also had the salmon, stuffed mozzerella chicken and assortment of appetizers. Staff is always very friendly ... can be a wait sometimes during peak hours but i went there at 11pm on a friday and 7pm on a saturday and was seated right away.

    Can't get enough

I started going to Uva a few months ago. I can't say enough good things about it. I meet clients there for a drink/appetizer/dinner and everytime I go I have the same wonderful experience. The GNOCCHI is to die for. The dirty martinis are fantastic. The help couldn't be more on the ball and nice. The owners are one of a kind. The bartendar is spectacular. I feel like I am in Italy when I go. It has a very rustic decor and you can even have a party downstairs. Every night that I am there which is 2-3 times a week it is jam packed. I never see it empty. I think they are going to be one of the best on the Upper East Side. There is nothing for them to change. Maybe just to serve the chocolate suffle a little bit ealier. That is the only thing.

    Polenta Tartufata is a MUST

Uva is our local place, and we very much love it. It is open late, serves late, and, despite it being busy and often loud, it is a dependable place for me and my husband to go to for dinner. It is a great place to hang out with friends, too -- every friend who ends up meeting me there for a bite and/or wine has fell in love with it. It is impossible for me to go to Uva and not order the polenta tartufata -- it is beautiful and delicious, and I have never eaten anything like it. The wine selection is great, and the sangria is great for brunch or late afternoon. The staff has always been nice and accommodating -- highly recommended for a casual yet quality dining and wining experience.
