Go here for dessert (not dinner)
Been here several times. Like many winebars, Uva is crowded, noisy, and has a rustic dark decor. But it's a good size and a nice backyard. The cheese plates and salads are good but the antipastos and main dishes are very, very blandtheir pastas, chicken, fish, all medicore and w/o much flavor. However their desserts are TOP notchthey have a lemoncello mouse with berry sauce that is worth a big write-up. We never eat dinner here anymore, but we frequently go here for wine & dessert.

Excellent food, great wine choices
I have been to Uva two times this summer and absolutely love it. The food is outstanding from the flatbread to the salads, appetizers and pasta. All top notch. The grilled calamari is one of the best I have ever had. I would definitely recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

Incredible!
I went to UVA after a suggestion from a friend and I was very impressed. We got there early (around 645) so had no problem getting a table. They let us sit and relax and enjoy our wine before even ordering. The wine they suggested was incredible. We indulged in pasta, chicken and a delicious mozzarella appetizer. The food was incredible, the service attentive and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. Toward the end of our dinner (around 830) it started getting very crowded and noisy. with people starting their night out at the wine bar - didn't bother us, might bother some. The outdoor garden also looked incredible. Must try UVA!

So So Good!
We've had dinner at Uva twice within the last few weeks and have been absolutely delighted each time! The menu is fantastic, and we have yet to have a dish we didn't completely fall in love with. The wine list is diverse, and they have wonderful suggestions especially for dessert pairings. The wait staff is also wonderful- always engaging, offering great suggestions, without being pushy or hurrying the experience. The decor is absolutely lovely, and quite a nice quaint retreat. The only problem can be the noise level, but it is due to customers thoroughly enjoying themselves, which isn't a bad thing if you like to eavesdrop on others conversations!

Overpriced and disappointing
We went there for a farewell dinner on a Sunday night. The restaurant has a good atmosphere but is very noisy. The starters of mushroom bruschette were OK. We had the pasta special which was nearly cold and the pasta was barely cooked. We asked for a small bowl of penne for our son, plain boiled with a dash of parmesan and were charged $10.50 which I thought was a rip off. Desserts were very average. Would never return unfortunately.

Great Food, Great Service, but LOUD!
The food was amazing at Uva, I highly recommend this place if you live in the hood or anywhere in the city. It is comparable to other great Italian restaurants in the city. Wine choice is good, and the servers are knowledgeable of the food and wine being served. Traditional italian fare, with many courses, and they don't rush you to finish. Service was great. My only complaint...it was REALLY LOUD! Go here on a week night and go for an earlier dinner. If you go after 7:30-8 it will be tight and you will have to yell across the small tables to talk.

Recent Trip to NYC
Recently returned from a trip to NYC. Dined at Uva on 4/15 after a day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art - Arrived early approx 6:00. We were greeted and seated immediately. The food was great, the service was great (Ivanka was our waitperson), the atmosphere was rustic - myself, wife and daughter really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended.
