    best indian manhattan

Every time we go to nyc we go for an indian and only discovered Utsav last week. It's the best we've had to date and would highly recommend. Very reasonably priced and wine was not a rip off either. Previous night in hell's kitchen we were charged 12 $ for a glass of wine in a burger restaurant. Staff were very pleasant also.

    Not recommended

This place has one thing going for it - a prime midtown location in the heart of the theater district in a nice building. The food was a major disappointment. We do alot of Indian and have become able to discern the good from the disappointing. This was unappetizing. The chicken tikka masal was the most disappointing we ever tasted. The chucks of chicken seemed to be the processed kind you would find in fast food nuggets. Spices were minimal in both dishes we had. Maybe they are too cheap to buy them all. The samosas were sub-par. The only thing decent, and that was barely decent, was the lamb saag. Service was quick and they seem to thrive on a quick and large theater dinner crowd. If you want real Indian food look elsewhere. If you want a quick assembly line subpar meal this is the place for you. First and last visit for us.

    Disappointing experience

We were looking for a decent indian food experience after being in city for couple of hrs. We were four adults and 3 small children. Here is what I think .. 1) All entrees are way overpriced. We were vegeterian and cheapest entree started at $17. 2) Paying higher price does not equart to quality . The food quantity was too bland and not well cooked. 3). Bread ( Naan) was complete joke. Each Naan costs 5 bucks and it is smallest piece of bread you can ever find. 4) Indian beer was too expensive and not worth trying , plain vanilla bud is much better. BTW this purported indian beer is brewed somewhere in saratoga spring ,NY. 4) Our waiter was the most rude person we have ever met.. his attitude was such that he was doing a favour to us. 5) Most indian places give free rice with entree ..not here 6) Poor service..we waited for 20 mins after we were served to get some more breads. All in all we paid $ 230 and regretted why we went there. Street food would have been better.

    Soooo disappointed

Dry, over spicy and nothing special. Very pricey. I'm guessing that the owner of this restaurant has deep pockets because, otherwise, there's no reason for this restaurant to survive. Pakora:dry (lifeless). Tandoori (slightly better). Sorry, but the bottled water was the best part of my dining experience here.

    No good

We went on mothers day. Very disappointing experience. Food is no good. we spent $178.00 for 3 people; looked like we were eating road side food.

    disappointing food and attitude

I went with my family to treat my sister for her birthday.Food was awful with old curry.spinach i ordered was watery and the service was terrible. i am appaled that we new yorkers with such good restaurants in town tolerate such subpar people and food.
