Utopia = Hot Mess Diner
We live in the area and have always wanted to try this diner. Bad decision! My husband's water glass arrived with a lipstick stain. My diet soda was flat, warm, and tasted the same as my husband's regular soda. My chicken gyro was made with imitation-chicken? strips that were inedible and my husband almost chipped a tooth with a bone that was left in his beef burger. The waiter was very nice and attentive but he couldn't possibly make up for the lousy food and dirty glass. Will definitely not return and warn others from visiting this diner.

Not so friendly
my son and I ate there recently and we were quite jammed into a table for two - when we asked if we could move to a larger table (the restaurant was more than half empty) the waiter said (loudly in a way that embarrassed us) that the other tables were for more than two people - even though one and two people were sitting at those other tables - my son who is quite shy (and very tall) was uncomfortable on two counts - would not go back. It would have been quite easy to accommodate us.

Our favorite diner
My family has been regularly eating at the Utopia for more than 20 years. The staff is unflaggingly friendly and always responds to special requests. For the most part, the food is typical NYC diner fare, but their dinners can surprise you with the occasional really good sauce. The dinner portions are huge - my wife and I regularly split a dinner and leave quite satisfied.

Home away from home
Yes, it is a basic NYC diner. I love the Cream of Turkey soup on the weekends. I also like the basic cheeseburger. Breakfast is always good too. But the thing I like most about going there the last 15 years is they take time to come up and say hello- especially if you were a regular at some point in time. I love Utopia!

Utopia is great!
I go to Utopia regularly, and I love it! The food, staff, and service are great. I live near by and Utopia is always a weekend-morning breakfast option.

Delivery?
I had some dessert from the Utopia restaurant and it was marginal, not terrible nor great. They delivered and it came on time. I tried ordering an actual meal from them tonight, and the man in the phone said that he "couldn't deliver" my order because I live on 78th (they're located on 72nd). I was confused by this, and honestly, not very happy about it.
