    Great Healthy Eating,Harlem Style

I went to the Uptown Juice Bar back around November 2006 with my brother and the place was the bomb!! If I ever go back to NYC, that would be the first place i hit for a bite to eat because that place is all that and then some. The food is from scratch but 100% vegetarian food. Healthy, delicious, nutritious and VERY good. you have your soul food items(but healthy and not meat or diary or anything) as well as your juices and smoothies which I also recommend and the price is quite good. I HIGHLY recommend a look see. Now as far as the place to sit down, it is buffet style and when I went, the folks were going and right back out but there is a place you can sit and get your grub on if you wish; but I must say the food was the best. Very good dining experience.

Best value vegan food in NYC

For $6, you can get their everyday special - choose 1 protein, 1 starch, and 1 vegetable. Filling and delicious. Their fake meats are the best - tofu and gluten products are prepared excellently. Also try their juice - it's a little more pricey than the rest of the menu, but it's so fresh and like ambrosia. Cheapest delicious dinner I've found.

    It's so good!!!

My vegetarian coworker complained how there's nothing to eat here besides pizza and a veggie burger from the deli. We come to 125th about twice a week for work. So I googled for a veg place near 125th st and saw the review for this place. I had actually seen this place before but just thought it was a juice bar. I told him about this place and we went and I ordered a turkey wrap and he ordered a chicken fingers but they were out and instead got a veggie burger. I saw the steam bar and there was such a large selection! Everything looked so good and knowing that the meaty looking stuff wasn't some weird meat makes it easy to point to anything and order w/o worry. I'm not veg but I don't like mystery meats. I ordered the wrap because I didn't know what to choose and the serving was too big for lunch. Well ordering from the steam bar was fast as all she has to do is scoop it into a container. The wrap and burger took like 15 mins, but it was so worth it. When I got back to work I realized why it took so long. The wrap was corn w/ two layers w/ some kind of powdery nutty powder-maybe cornmeal, between the layers. It was made to order. I thought it would be some cold flour wrap that was bought. Then the turkey strips inside were actually grilled! It looked like meat and was so moist w/o the chewy fake meat thing going for it. It also has some greenleaf lettuce, fresh tomatoes and a red sauce. It was so flavorful and delicious. It was $5 which is a good deal as the wrap was so big I saved the other half for breakfast the next day. Still awesome the next day. It didn't taste like meat but didn't taste like the fake meat substitutes but it sure looked like meat so I wasn't sure even though I believe they are vegan. The next morning after reheating in the microwave, I looked at the 'meat' and saw the little bubbles in the fake meat that happens when it's microwaved. Still tasted really good. I haven't had anything like this that made me go mmm in so long. My veg friend said his veggie burger was good. the wrap is actually a bigger serving than the burger for the same price. He said he liked the food but thought it was a little too expensive. Since I got 2 meals from the $5 turkey wrap it's actually an excellent deal.

    BBQ "Chicken"

In a word- amazing. You have to wonder how much oil is in the food to make it taste this good. Their curried dishes are really good, especially the ones with meat substitutes. The everyday special for $6 is a great deal and their juices are delicious, though fairly pricey, ($3.50-5.50)

    Good Food Not Good Service

I decided to try this place b/c I go to their partner restaurants on 135th and 166th, which I love. The food is good. Their soy meats are unbelieveable, which they have in common with their partner restaurants, but the sides are a bit lack-luster. The collard greens were relatively lacking in flavor and the chickpeas were undercooked. Plus, the service is not good at all. The woman behind the counter seemed annoyed when I asked her what the various dishes were, even though they were not labeled and there were no signs so aside from guessing I don't know how I would be expected to know. The carrot cake was inedible.

    Great food

I am from Antigua( caribbean). I visit New York every year, and stay in Queens. As often as I can, I venture ti Harlem just to sample the great tasting, unique, nutritous food from theUptown Juice Bar. The memories of the place stays with me until I visit New York a year later. I wish I had a restaurant close to me that serves food of variety such as this one. Can`t say how much I love it.

    Simply The Best

The food is by far the best I've had in a long while. I use to be strickly vegetarian, now eating fish, chicken, and turkey but if I lived closer to Harlem I would surely reconsider being a full veggie again! The food seems to actually melt in your mouth, with great flavor. I will continue to take the hike from Brooklyn to Harlem.
