I was really pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food at this vegetarian buffet and juice bar. Many different kinds of vegetarian mock meats are available. They have two types of vegeterian drumsticks - curry and bbq (but watch out for the wooden skewer in there), and their soy "ribs" - all were very good. Plus, you can control the portion size because they sell everything by the pound at a pretty reasonable price. The bottled drink selection was a bit wanting (no cokes available for example) but I guess the point is that you will order from the juice bar (which I will do next time). Now the negatives: the counter service is pretty slow, and I noticed when I got home that I was charged for a pastry I didn't order. Also the seating area was a bit messy. However, the food was so good it was still a great deal. I wish they had a place like this in my neighborhood. I found it a good value and would definitely go back.

If you prefer eating veggies then this is one of the better places in the neighborhood to go to.I went here today to get soup and a large red bean and dumpling soup is about $4.25 after tax. It was delicious and satisfied me without feeling too full. It looks like a regular line up & order at the counter place, but it looked like there might be seating there too. I saw there was also a $6.00 special where you pick three items, not sure if that comes with a drink. All the food looked and smelled good and I will be coming back again for lunch and maybe try out their fresh juice bar smoothies.

The best veggie place in Harlem, the food is seasoned so well and they have a large variety of dishes.

I went to the Uptown Juice Bar back around November 2006 with my brother and the place was the bomb!! If I ever go back to NYC, that would be the first place i hit for a bite to eat because that place is all that and then some. The food is from scratch but 100% vegetarian food. Healthy, delicious, nutritious and VERY good. you have your soul food items(but healthy and not meat or diary or anything) as well as your juices and smoothies which I also recommend and the price is quite good. I HIGHLY recommend a look see. Now as far as the place to sit down, it is buffet style and when I went, the folks were going and right back out but there is a place you can sit and get your grub on if you wish; but I must say the food was the best. Very good dining experience.

For $6, you can get their everyday special - choose 1 protein, 1 starch, and 1 vegetable. Filling and delicious. Their fake meats are the best - tofu and gluten products are prepared excellently. Also try their juice - it's a little more pricey than the rest of the menu, but it's so fresh and like ambrosia. Cheapest delicious dinner I've found.

My vegetarian coworker complained how there's nothing to eat here besides pizza and a veggie burger from the deli. We come to 125th about twice a week for work. So I googled for a veg place near 125th st and saw the review for this place. I had actually seen this place before but just thought it was a juice bar. I told him about this place and we went and I ordered a turkey wrap and he ordered a chicken fingers but they were out and instead got a veggie burger. I saw the steam bar and there was such a large selection! Everything looked so good and knowing that the meaty looking stuff wasn't some weird meat makes it easy to point to anything and order w/o worry. I'm not veg but I don't like mystery meats. I ordered the wrap because I didn't know what to choose and the serving was too big for lunch. Well ordering from the steam bar was fast as all she has to do is scoop it into a container. The wrap and burger took like 15 mins, but it was so worth it. When I got back to work I realized why it took so long. The wrap was corn w/ two layers w/ some kind of powdery nutty powder-maybe cornmeal, between the layers. It was made to order. I thought it would be some cold flour wrap that was bought. Then the turkey strips inside were actually grilled! It looked like meat and was so moist w/o the chewy fake meat thing going for it. It also has some greenleaf lettuce, fresh tomatoes and a red sauce. It was so flavorful and delicious. It was $5 which is a good deal as the wrap was so big I saved the other half for breakfast the next day. Still awesome the next day. It didn't taste like meat but didn't taste like the fake meat substitutes but it sure looked like meat so I wasn't sure even though I believe they are vegan. The next morning after reheating in the microwave, I looked at the 'meat' and saw the little bubbles in the fake meat that happens when it's microwaved. Still tasted really good. I haven't had anything like this that made me go mmm in so long. My veg friend said his veggie burger was good. the wrap is actually a bigger serving than the burger for the same price. He said he liked the food but thought it was a little too expensive. Since I got 2 meals from the $5 turkey wrap it's actually an excellent deal.
