    Best place for lunch!

simple low key elegant ambiance with attentive pleasant service and fantastic food....been here many times over the yrs and never been disappointed....for lunch. Went again today w/family of 6 and it was great! dinner on Halloween night was not so good. celebration for husband's 60 birthday.....with reservations for 9.....3wks ahead, we still had to wait 30 mins and then 1/2 the items on the menu was OUT....and what was available was not good....guess they wanted to close and throw us ( party of 5) out by 11pm even though we were not seated till 9:30pm. We sat at AWFUL LOCATION with poor service and limited food. Stay away for dinner but stick to lunch for better deal!

    Loses Value after Basics

Stick to lunch items. Burger is excellent. Black bean soup good. The grilled smoked shell steak needed to be grilled and smoked to play-up a very average cut of beef. This lack of quality is a blow to all normally dependable Danny Meyer operations and assures I won't have dinner there but lunch is good..

    Loved It

My boyfriend and I enjoyed lunch at Union Square Cafe during the Winter 2008 Restaurant Week. Our appetizers, entrees and desserts were unique and delicious, and I found the atmosphere to be warm and inviting. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive, and although the restaurant was packed with others taking advantage of Restaurant Week, we did not feel rushed. I hope to return to Union Square Cafe to sample the rest of the menu soon!

    Okay food but nice sceneries.

Been here for a couple of times. I think USC is mostly famous about their ex-star / ex-model / star-wanna-be waitresses and waiters. Last time I lunched, Courtney was my server! A very nice surprise. She was on the last season of the Survivor China. Anyway, food is definitely what make this place a nice place to eat, IMHO.

    Nothing special

I went here with my girlfriend for dinner a few nights ago and it really didn't meet my expectations. I was really hoping to be blown away after hearing all the fuss about this place but was kind of let down. The food was good but I was looking for great. I probably wouldn't run back to this place especially because it's pretty expensive too. Our waiter forgot one of our appetizers but made up for it with a free dessert...still, not blown away.

    Nice Experience!

We had a very nice experience at the Cafe. My date called only a day or so ahead to get a reservation (for a Friday night!) and they were kind enough to accommodate our request as we were coming from out of town. We started with the calamari which I thought was incredible! My green salad was so-so, but the tuna was very tasty! My date had the scallops which looked wonderful and must have tasted good as well since she didn't offer me any! Overall I would enjoy dining there again.

    Not enough scallops

On Sunday 12/16/07, I went to dinner at Union Square cafe with my boyfriend, based on his recomendations. Well for a appetizer I ordered the gnnochi which was wonderfall. and For my main course I ordered the scallops. Well for $31.00 for 3 small to medium size scallops I felt robbed. I have to many restaurants for the same price or less I have gotten 4-6 large scallops for a main meal. If I go back to the Union Square Cafe, no more ordering scallops for a main course again. I think I will jsut stick with chicken! Overall the service was above compare, just the shortage of scallops on my plate!
