    like any other greek place

Went for lunch—nearly empty when I went in, almost full when I left; business people from area. Had eaten several times at Upper West side location. Kept it simple ordering cup of lemon soup ($5) which came in bowl and was excellent. Thick, almost creamy, very lemony, chunks of chicken, some veggies and hot. Lamb souvlaki in pita ($6) was decent sized with enough lamb chunks. Detected no grilled flavor. It was however among the toughest chunks I’ve ever eaten and not necessarily due to cooking. Meat was fresh though. Excessive lettuce, ok with the onions but few tomato slices. There was something trying to look like tzatziki sauce, but it was tasteless. Also given bread and butter (with a sandwich?!). Service OK—had to beg for water, but place was quite busy. Pleasant setting, but would not go back. The many customers here might suggest the food choices are worse elsewhere in the area.

    Never Again

Tonight was my first and last time. Food was not bad but my lamb was served on ice cold rice. My friends had hot rice. Not consistent. The server rolled his eyed when I asked for a plate of hot rice. While we ate the other server at the bar danced and dry humped the other server. This place needs a restaurant stakeout. Servers out of control here.

    It's about the food!

Was surprised at the rating Uncle Nick's got then read the reviews and saw that virtually none of the poor ones had anything to do with the food. Bottom line is Uncle Nick's is excellent, fresh, reasonably priced-high quality greek food. Everything on the menu is consistently great. So the service can be lax and the guy who answers the phone is gruff. It's a greek restaurant; embrace it! btw, the woman who takes orders on the phone is as nice as can be. Yes, the deliveries can take a while but I usually pick up or eat in and both are fine. Both Uncle Nick's locations are superb!

    Delivery? Never Again!

I have lived in NYC my whole life and that was the longest I ever waited for a lunch delivery. Mind you, the restaurant is less than two blocks away from my office. They said 30-45 minutes and it took 90 minutes for a single order of chicken souvlaki. The food is okay, but maybe go pick it up instead (but then again, they'll probably keep you waiting there too)

You've lost a longtime customer forever

Great food, poor service. Ordered take out on phone came in a 1/2 hour later and it wasnt ready. When i asked the rude bartender pointed to other customers and said theyve been waiting even longer. I left. I wont be back. Sorry uncle nick.

Great Greek food at a price

I have no idea what these other people are talking about, but I have eaten at both locations over 50 times and order in all the time. Yes when busy and before theater in the uptown location I am sure it is busy, but which restaurant on theater row isn't. Anyhow its very basic tight and a taverna style, so if you are looking for fancy decor and quiet dinner, this is not the place. Great fresh seafood and good quality for the price by NY standards. Ignore the uptight ones in these reviews.

go here if you want to be ignored

I took my father for dinner for his birthday. Waiter ignored us and thenafterw e ordered the food came so quickly, my dad was eating his salad on his lap as there was no room for main course plate on the table. After main course plates were taken away, the check was thrown on the table, we never saw the waiter again and nobody asked us if we wanted dessert or cooffe which I wanted to get since it was my dad's 81st birthday.
