    Nice Place

If you can not get to Luger's this is a great substitute! Food, ambiance, nicely done! Drinks skimpy for cost! Over all very good!

    Better than Luger's or Wolfgang's

Went for late dinner (10:45pm /11 pm reservation) on a Saturday night. Seated immediately. Had the signature Porterhouse for 2. Cost more than Luger's or Wolfgang's ($85 for 2) but a much nicer cut and overall better quality. Good garlic mashed potato but would have liked to have ( Wolfgang's) hashbrowns as a choice. Or even better--Shelly's hash brown potato pie-my personal favorite...Sauted onions were only acceptable, nothing to write home about. Desserts (creme brulee and fresh fruit) were very fresh and very good. Wait staff was excellent. Letting us know to order dessert before the kitchen closed but not rushing us to finish when the were getting ready to close for the evening.

    A disappointment

I had heard about the bayside location from a number of people, and given it's popularity, assumed the manhattan location would be just as good. well... the decor is superb inside, an insider let it be known that a few million dollars went into the place, and it shows. Upstairs is a great seating area overlooking the rest of the restaurant below, and the private dining room feels like what might be bill gate's library. the bar does tend to get noisy and crowded, but hey, it's a steakhouse, right? The food was what disappointed, however. two steaks came out well underdone, despite assurances that jack's grills time everything electronically to perfection. The seafood was good, but not great. And at these prices, it should be great. Service was top notch and attentive however, but even great service can't compensate for mediocre food.

    Amazing

Went here for dinner with my girlfriend and had an amazing meal. The food was wonderful and the service was amazing. The entire place was great and I have nothing bad to say about it. Had a great night and I highly suggest it to everyone.

    A Great Surprise

I've eaten all around the steakhouses in NYC and this place tops them all. I didn't even know about it until last week--what a fantastic surprise. The wait staff was on top of thier game, the steaks were perfectly prepared. We shared the porterhouse (served ala Peter Lueger) and dare I say it was better! The appetizers were amazing: Shrimp cocktail with GIAGANTIC U7s and the best clams oreganta I've ever had. Top shelf wine list. What a combination; great atmospher, great food, impeccable service from a staff that treats you like a persons who's dropping that kind of money deserves to be treated. I can't wait to go back.

    Disappointed

I ate there last night with a friend for his birthday. To begin with, I got there one minute before my reservation and told them I'd wait outside bc I didn't want to sit at the bar. My friend arrived on time, and we went in to the restaurant, we were still directed to the bar, even though there were several empty tables. I felt the hostess did this intentionally bc I would not go into the bar when I first arrived. The food was mediocre -- not bad, but it was certainly not great. We ordered appetizers and entrees, and the guy suggested a nice lobster tail alongside, which I thought was pretty pushy, in that we ordered a good amount of food, and that probably would have been another $50 to the bill. Also, people were constantly in your face, and the waiter, who was concerned about our having seafood, tried to take my oysters before I had finished. I will not return.

    Archetypical NYC Steakhouse

When you think "NYC Steakhouse" think "Uncle Jack's." The service is superb, from the bartenders to the captains. The steak was cooked to perfection - the sides, the garlic mashed and the creamed spinach, with a dose of nutmeg, was fine ... on the downside, it was so dark the menu should have been in braille - while the meats are excellent the menu could do with more choices, and, of course, the tab is steep ... we sat on the balcony, and finished a leisuely two and a half hours later ... if price is not an issue a fine choice.
