Uncle Jack's is the place to go!

There's a good reason why Uncle Jack's Steakhouse is my favorite NYC restaurant...it has stellar service, a great atmosphere, and scrumptious meals. Their new lunch, brunch, sushi, and breakfast cocktail menus are full of great new choices. Personally, their Dark and Stormy cocktail and their "Big Jack" burger always leaves my mouth watering. But you can't go wrong with any of their delicious meals!

    Slowest service

The food was ok. Service was some of the worst I've experienced. Had to ask several times to clear plates. Waited 10 minutes for wine after meal was delivered. Ordered Desert 20 minutes ago. Still waiting. Won't be back!

    A must try

We stumbled upon this rest. and it has now become a favorite MUST while in NYC. Food is great, Service was wonderful, and each time I've been here I've had a supurb experience. If you are looking for something a little less exp...head here for lunch. Great specials and same great steak!

Nice first impression but look deeper

I read the mixed reviews on Uncle Jack's and took a chance. Don't do it. I had a group of 8 and when we walked in the restaurant which was cozy and deorated very nicely for the holidatys. The staff are very friendly and accommodating; our coats were quickly checked and the bartender very professional. After we were seated, our water glasses filled and assortment of bread placed on the table. The supervising waiter ensured that our drinks were in order and was helpful in selecting a wine in our price range ($75 per bottle). There were not many bottles on the wine list less than this price. The waiter told us about the specials and tried pushing the seafood tower on us. As he read the specials he did not provide prices for any of them. When two in our crowd ordered oysters, the waiter asked if they wanted a dozen each and they agreed without knowing that a dozen is a double order and were charged double for them. The appetizers were not anything special and I would say not to bother with them. The steaks are expensive so we expected the best. The only steak that we can give a good review to is the NY strip which was what you would expect from a good steakhouse. Two of us ordered the Grilled Rib Steak medium rare at $55 each and although they were large in size, they came out overdone and tough. This is not a steak you would say you could cut with a fork. Fortunately the steak knives were sharp. Three of the group ordered the special; filet mignon on the bone and they came out loaded with fat. After finishing dinner the waiter pushed shots of sambucca making is sound on the house but we knew better and refused. The desserts are $12 each and the apple strudel with ice cream tasted good but we had to peel wax paper off the bottom of it. We finished 3 bottles of wine and the bill with tip included came out to $175 per person. By the way, the $75 bottles of wine are priced between $12-$14 in stores and online. We are New Yorkers, not tourists, so if you are looking for a top notch steakhouse in the city, please look elsewhere. This place gives a good first impression, but when you look deeper, it lacks value and quality.

    Best Kobe you'll ever have!

Went to Uncle Jacks in September of 2008 on the recommendation of the concierge at my hotel for the best place to get a Kobe steak. Boy was he right! While this place is not for the light waleted traveler, it is well worth every penny I spent. Best steak I've ever had, best service I've ever had, and hands down the best crab cake I've ever had! My wife and I will be in NYC again in May and guaranteed we will be partaking in the Kobe at Uncle Jacks!

    Not worth it

I received a gift card to this place so I thought I would give it a try. We first tried the caesar, which had no flavor to it at all and barely any dressing. Then we tried the crab cake which was served on a diner-like plate without any garnishes and tasted like it was out of the freezer (which it clearly was). I tried the Wagyu steak for $75 which I'll admit was excellent, but not worth the price. My girlfriend had the tuna because she wasn't in the mood for steak, but that tasted defrosted like 5 minutes before it made it to the plate. We had a nice bottle of wine, but really all of this wasn't worth it, at all. This place needs to bring the food quality up to their prices or vice versa.

    Best Kobe in NYC

After having the pleasure of eating at Uncle Jack's Steakhouse a couple weeks ago as per some of the positive reviews on menupages, I had to chime in. All the things about the service are true, a beautiful ambiance is bolstered by an attentive, friendly, competent wait staff who do their best to make you feel like a big shot. The beauty about Uncle Jack's is you don't have to spend like a big shot! They have definitely gone out of their way to serve new and tasty dishes that are not out of place in an upscale steakhouse, and are "recession friendly" as far as the wallet is concerned. With a $40 prix fix that includes choices like filet mignon and center cut porkchops, and half priced wine on Tuesdays, Uncle Jack's can definitely be a solid alternative to the overpriced NYC steakhouse. You get the food, you get the ambiance and you get the service, but it won't be your only meal out for the month. Definitely worth checking out.
