overcharged
my friend and i came to umberto's for an early luch. the food and service were good. we ordered from the menu brought to us: a dinner menu. okay. however, by the time we left the restaurant, the staff have out out the "sandwichboard menu" for lunch. our entrees, plus salad, would have been only $12.95! we will never go here again.

Stay Away
I went here with my wife on my last trip to New York. The service was extremely slow, even though there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The food was beyond awful. Almost everything came out cold. My wife's food was not only under cooked but it tasted rotten. It was probably the most disappointing meal I've ever paid for.

Not recommended
Ate there last with my girlfriend, Mulberry St. was closed to traffic all the restaurants were packed Umberto's was deserted. She wanted some oysters so we went in, oysters were ok the margerita pizza was terrible, I think I have had better frozen.

Good seafood
Lunch special $8.95 with soup and salad is good deal. My fav is calamari, seafood pasta. I always order these. Mussles are OK.

Awesome Italian Seafod in the Bronx
During Rush Hour, I hopped off the Cross Bronx and 2 minutes up the road was my old neighborhood, Arthur Avenue. With over a dozen restaurants to choose from, I hit Umberto’s Clam House and was blown away. These guys buy the highest quality meats and seafood and everything. The atmosphere was awesome, too. I’m going back for their Grilled Octopus Appetizer, every week.

Forget it
We been going to Umbertos for a few years now and about two years ago it started to slide. Our last time there the food was pathetic and the service not far behind. There are many many other places in Little Italy that are much better. Fugetaboutit!

Don't bother!
I have been dining at Umberto's since 1987. My brother and I had dinner there last night and we both agreed that we will never go again. What a shame... the calamari over linguini was so bad we couldn't even eat it. Soggy calamari that was surely fried hours before dinner service. The tomato sauce was nothing like I remember either. If you are looking for good food in Little Italy, don't bother with Umberto's.
