Very average
This is kind of like the udon I grew up with in California in the 1970's. It's okay but not anything special. Noodle not so good but they pile on the toppings. Udon was overcooked and soggy; no bite to it.

Best Udon I've had
I never liked Udon though I love Japanese foods - Udon and Tempura are probably the only two Japanese dishes I never liked. I went into the restaurant hoping to find something other than Udon on their menu. However, nothing really interested me. Given its name is Udon West, I decided to try its Udon. I am so glad I did so. The udon was the best udon I've had, and totally changed my perception of Udon. It's almost not udon - I mean the usual flavorless noodle you see - but something completely different, tender but springy, full of flavor, and at a very reasonable price. I was really impressed. I will definitely go back again.

Great udon
Have eaten at the restaurant and ordered takeout multiple times now. The food is consistently great, and the gyoza are delicious!
