Great find in Chelsea
I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. Chelsea can be a little light on great places especially that far west. After being turned away at several places since it was 1030 we were warmly welcomed. The kitchen was closing so we ordered quickly but it came out surprisingly delicious. Service was great as well. I definitely plan to return.

Hopeful
After reading some of the negative reviews, we decided to go and find out for ourselves. The menu definitely sounded creative and interesting. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the negative comments, not a great value, Presentation, not great, too many other good places in the city to go!

Basque Tapas Rock!!
Many of the previous reviews have complained angrily about the high prices at Txikito: do these reviewers live in NYC or Kansas??? Tapas is not an inexpensive proposition, ever, but the food here is of unusually high quality, and the portions (despite the name of the restaurant) are not small for tapas. My friend and I shared 5 tapas plates, with the idea of ordering the fries with cod roe mayo if we were still hungry. We were definitively NOT, and I am a pretty enthusiastic eater. Favorites were the narrow squid ribbons (my friend, a non-squid-lover, declared them a revelation), and the baked okra with yoghurt special, but everything was delicious and unusual. And the service was absolutely lovely. This is a a real find. Ignore the negative reviews below and head on over!

Pretentious
Although some dishes were good, the value was not there: tiny portions, outrageous prices. Some dishes, such as the "Cogollos" were insulting, and reminded me of one of Penn & Teller's episodes about a fake high end restaurant.

Rude, wrong and ridiculous
After reading some of the other reviewers entries I feel justified in my great disappointment with the service at Txikito. I wasn't bothered by the prospect of the small plates for big bucks- I had figured out that the name translated into small long before we sat at the table. I was hopeful that the staff wouldn't fall small on the service. Instead the waiter slammed our water glasses which we had respectfully requested after being ignored for more than 20 minutes. So we left not having tasted the food. On the way out the hostess bid us good evening and said "I hope you had a nice meal". Are they that clueless?!Won't be giving their overpriced menu a taste anytime soon.

quality & authencity
tapas are always going to be pricey, so when you find a tapas place with quality dishes, service and wine - you stick with it! the blistered peppers w. sea salt was a spot on pairing with the rose. the kroketas were tasty, and the gambas plantxa were one of the most flavorful shrimp dishes i've had ever.

Crispy Tongue Sandwich
You have got to try the Lengua which is a crispy tongue sandwich with mayonnaise and tomato! Yes it is expensive given the ingrediants. But it is pure deliciousness!
