bought a dark choco frosted chocolate birthday cake. the cake got compliments for its intricate design and it tastes great too. tried the brooklyn blackout as well and it was awesome. the red velvet is not something to rave about. its not that moist and the frosting is too sweet. service is great though. will buy more birthday cakes from them.

Baked goods this delectable should be outlawed! They make no missteps (well, once or twice my cupcakes have been a little stale) and deliver quality every time. I have never seen such beautiful cakes as the ones they make and they are always the hit of whatever party I take them to. Treating myself to a cupcake or cookie from 2 Little Red Hens requires a LOT of self-restraint in the rest of my diet, and extra exercise, but is SO worth it. Go ahead, splurge, treat yourself, you'll never forget your first and you'll never regret it (unless, perhaps like me, you become addicted...).

I treated myself to a piece of their cake on my birthday and I will go back many more times. The cake was unbelievable- the best. Words cannot describe how tasty this piece of chocolate cake was. Everyone working there was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is just adorable- cutest, coziest setting. The prices were awesome. It's scary that I live 2 blocks away because I'm going to gain a few pounds and keep going back ALL the time!

Independent coffee shop? Check. Plenty of seating? Check. Good people watching? Check. Great baked goods? CHECK. Seriously, I would much rather spend an afternoon at Two Little Red Hens than drinking a subpar latte from a chain coffee-place. Breakfast treats here are solid, from muffins to cinnamon rolls & a dark roast coffee with the neatest lid I've ever seen. Baked goods are astounding - the cakes were elegantly frosted with great description cards next to each, the fruit tarts looked fresh and colorful, although cupcakes seemed a bit pricey (especially the minis) but equally delicious. You can't beat the varied selectionfrom different frostings to cakes to sizes, they really have a little bit of everything. The staff moved quickly and efficiently despite the morning rush, and customers picking up pre-orders were quickly presented with their cakes. An UES establishment I will definitely visit frequently!

This afternoon, I was having a chocolate craving. I decided that I needed a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing. I read all of the reviews on here, and Two Little Red Hens looked like it was a good bet (I've walked by it every day for 5 years, but have never gone inside). I decided I'd try a Brooklyn Blackout cupcake. Oh my. What I had was not a cupcake. It was heaven in baked form. The cake was moist and gooey, and that alone would have been good enough...but there's more. The "icing" is unlike any icing I've ever had. It was more like fudge (like what your grandma makes at Christmas) than icing. It was not at all sugary...just pure, rich, thick chocolatey goodness. And to top it all off, there was some sort of chocolate creme filling! This cupcake was AMAZING. By far the best I've had in the city. Or anywhere else. Ever. And the people were super nice to boot!

We've tried magnolia's, billy's, crumbs, buttercup, sweet sugar sunshine, and two little red hens consistently is the best cupcake in ALL of new york city! The red velvet is to die for, and the pound cake is also one of our personal favoritos.

Most of the cupcakes/cakes/cookies are absolutely delicious, not to mention beautifully decorated. The Red Velvet is my favorite there, but the Brooklyn Blackout, cheesecake, lemon, and cookies are excellent as well. There are other things that look great that I haven't tried yet. People are very nice and accommodating. Bit pricey though, but worthwhile as a treat once in a while. I think its easily my favorite of these types of bakeries in the city. Better than Crumbs, Cupcake Cafe, Buttercup, etc.
