    New management = bad service

My husband and I used to love this restaurant and recommended it to all of our friends. So when we brought our of town guests on Saturday night we were very disappointed with the new menu and the subpar service. When our entree's arrived they only brought out 2 of them. My entree as well as my friends entree's were no where to be found. After 10 minutes the waiter comes over to apologize and doesn't even offer a free drink or anything while the 2 of us wait. My husband was finished with his meal by the time our food was brought out and after all that wait my food was cold. I sent it back and the manager agreed to take my entree off the bill but didn't even offer to bring me anything. Not even a complimentary dessert for the table! We were not happy and we will not be recommending this restaurant to our friends again. At least until the new manager gets their act together!

why isn't there a line out the door?

living in nyc, i'm used to experiencing major drama to get into any worthwhile establishment so when we arrived at 7:30 pm on a thursday nite to find the restaurant half empty, red flags started going off in my mind. luckily, those were completely unwarranted as we had an amazing meal and great service, sans deafness inducing noise levels. we ordered a meze dish with eggplant and tomatoes, hummus, zucchini pancakes, grilled calamari, grilled sea bass and lamb kabobs. Everything tasted flavorful and fresh - maybe the lamb was a teeny overcooked, but overall it was a delicious meal. Tab came to about $100 for three which i consider to be very reasonable. My husband and i just returned from a trip to istanbul and thought the food here was at least comparable to some of what we had the pleasure of tasting there. we will def make the trek from the UWS here again.

    Best Turkish restaurant in NYC

I lived in Istanbul for 2 years so I know my Turkish food. After trying out most of the Turkish restaurants in New York, I would have to say that Turks and Frogs is by far the best. I always get meze - the taramasalata, ezme, lebne, sea beans and cacik are all fantastic. For me, the dolma are a little bit on the sweet side though. Then I usually get a lamb kebab. It's always perfect. The manti (Turkish ravioli) are also good. I've never been unhappy with my meal or the service. You can spend less elsewhere but here, the wine list is really good and the atmosphere is pleasant.

    What's to write home about?

Acceptedly the food was pretty good. The ambience too is good, but nothing extraordinary. The service is pretty poor. Why would the waiters have a chip on their shoulder?! Overall, a pricey place, but nothing much to write home about. I'd rather go to Turkish Kitchen.

    Good Food

Quaint space, good menu. I ordered thinly sliced lamb and it wasn't sliced at all. The food is good but I think there is better Turkish in Manhattan.

    Genuine

I don't know what the negative reviewers here are expecting but this is a great place. The staff are down-to-earth but not butt-kissers. The space balances ny cool and comfortable, but it's not black-tie. And it's not haute frenchy cuisine but doesn't pretend to be. It IS the best lamb kebab I've ever had anywhere. And the mezze and coban salatasi are great. It's exactly what it is and should be.
