If this is the introduction the Yanks get to meat pies - I'd say it's all over before it begins.... poor represenation of the pie.

As a vegetarian, I was aghast at my carnivore friends dragging me along to check out this new Australian pie shop. Much to my surprise - and not little embarassment given my initial objections - the Tuck Shop does a really delicious vegetarian pie! And its not a faux-meat concoction made from tofu like so many other places. These guys understand that vegetarians like - vegetables! And lots of them! They even have a vegan pie, though I didn't try it. The folks at the Tuck Shop clearly like their meat - and judging by the number of people ordering the beef and chicken pies, so do their customers - but they've definitely won over this vegetarian with their scrumptious veggie pie. I've actually snuck back a couple of times on my own and bypassed my usual vegetarian joints along the way to get myself the best veggie pie I've ever tasted in NYC!

Tuckshop got it right. The meat pie was excellent in all the important ways from the pastry and filling right down to temperature and the brown paper bag it came in. The sausage rolls were equally enjoyable..just like mum used to make. For those two items alone it's worth a return visit. Thank you for proving that it CAN be done here.
