amongst best sushi i have ever had...
this place has been a favorite of mine for years...while its not the greatest atmosphere, the sushi is amazing....and at very reasonable prices....the only other knock on it is they do try to rush you during rush hour lunch time, but other times it is very friendly...

Awesome
I highly recommend this restaurant. The fish is extremely fresh, and the prices are great.

best sushi in the city
This is one of the best sushi spots in the city. The service is very quick and attentative. The sushi is VERY fresh and really good. The prices are amazing for what you can get here...I actually prefer going here vs Yashuda. The only knock on it can be the atmosphere because its in the bottom of a building but they have tried to make the best of it. It is VERY clean and the food is very good. everyone should definitely try it out...as you will notice when you get in, the japanese in the area love this place because that is who most of the customers are in this place.

Salmon Roe -- My Favourite!!
The portions in Tsushima aren't known to be big, but they're utterly satisfying. The sashimi is fresh and my favourite dish is their salmon & salmon roe on rice. The roe is so fresh and tasty!! The set lunches on weekdays are good too :) It would be perfect if prices went down by 10 to 15% though.

It doesn't get better than this
I can't believe that TSUSHIMA has only been review by Ally's Dad. I was transferred to New York from Tokyo two months ago. While I love going to Masa, Sushi Seki, Yasuda, they are very and very very expensive. Tsushima is tucked away on E. 47th near 3rd ave. His fish is incredible. I had yesterday (my 4th time here) Japanese Skipjack and baby Hamachi the equal of anything in Tokyo. Tsushima's rice is the best in New York and served at the perfect temperature. I see that many of the customers are Japanese - they get it. Fish the equal of anyplace and prices 50% of the best places in NYC. One they are reviewed by NY Mag, forgetaboutit. Go while you can!

A Gem Totally Under the Radar`
I have been eating at Tshusima since it opened about two years ago. It is on a strip of East 47th, between 3rd and Lex that is populated by nondescript restaurants and a golf shop. The old sushi place was fine, but nothing to write home about. Tshushima came in, transformed the whole place and struggled for a long time. I think most of the customers are business locals having daily specials and sushi combos. Each is very good and at fair prices. Over time I began to see a greater Japanese clientle ordering not merely the daily meal, but sushi a la carte - what I usually get. The sushi is truly first rate and I would hold it up to vertually ANYONE in town. Tshushima himself is a master and you will be very happy if you turn the ordering over to him. NOTE: A la carte sushi can be expensive since you are truly getting a first rate product. Do not miss this gem even though it seems every reviewer has! Amities Gourmandes, ally's dad
