    Seriously?

Went here on a first date and what can i say. The restaurant was completely empty, except for the piano player. They didnt have anything on menu that i actually wanted. When i asked them to make me a custom pasta bolognese, they thought i was talking in chinese. Disappointing food and wine selection. Also very expensive for what we ate. Was actually embarrassed. Please spare yourself the stress, money and awkwardness.

    cozy and nice

A calm environment for a Thursday night. A nice piano player, not crowded and good service. Appetizer we split the black ravioli which was good. Then we had the seafood stew (lots of seafood...yum) and the roasted chicken which was also nicely done. Sides were the mushrooms and the french beans. All good size portions and a nice bottle of shiraz. The owner was there and everyone was very nice. A good neighborhood place

    my favorite restaurant in nyc

From what I've been able to see in other reviews, it appears that Trio got new owners in May 2007. My first visit was in December 2007 and we loved it. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is just perfect. I took my family there in January, went back for Valentine's Day in February, and have been there again in March and April. I think it almost warrants more than once a month. I've had the filet, the chicken, the seafood stew, and the seafood ravioli and all are fabulous. The goat cheese and beet salad for an appetizer is so tasty. The owner always comes by and greets us and has recognized that we are repeat visitors.

cute place for a drink only..not to eat

Only 3 tables were full when we went there at 7:30PM on a Friday, but the service was so slow we had to ask 3 times to find a waiter. Shrimp cocktail was grilled shrimp which was an odd twist and the main courses were not good. We had the mixed seafood in tomato sauce that tased like campbells soup and the monkfish that was so bland we had to add every spice to it. The best part of the meal was the creme brulee and the sorbet. The coffee that we asked for 2x came 10 min. after our dessert came.

    Pleasant treat

After reading the reviews below I was a little hesitant to try this place out but I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was nice with a pretty good piano player in the corner. Waiters were helpful without hovering; I wouldn’t say they were top notch but they were friendly and efficient. The food was good, Italian with a Mediterranean flair. Some of the dishes lacked a little “kick” but were all fundamentally strong. Overall I’d say it’s a good experience if you want to avoid the overpriced, overhyped, overcrowded restaurants in the neighborhood along 3rd ave.

    Fabulous Party Room!

Had a professional gathering in the private room for 20 people. And everything was top-notch! Food, service, totally professional! Will be doing more functions, and will be recommending to other colleagues. A job well done to TRIO!

    Trio...

There are poor restaurants, and then there are poor places. Trio falls into the latter. The food is unappetizing. The restuarant lacks in style and sentiment. The staff is very aloof. New York is full of good places. Please move over and let people who know how to run a business do so.
