Not great
Wow..am i the only person who did not like this place. Went for restaurant week so maybe the choices were not the best on their menu. I had the duck confit for an appetizer and bass for my entree. I consider myself a pretty good semi gourmet cook and I think I could have made these two dishes with my eyes closed. No flavor ...too bad cause everything else was great..the service and staff at the front was great. Maybe these restaurants who participate in restaurant week should put their best dishes on their prix fixe menus and maybe get more return customers...

Food = Amazing ... Service = Subpar
I am in sales. I worked in restaurants for 5 years before during and after college in various fine dining atmospheres and high-end wine bars as waiter, bartender and manager. I know what exceptional service is like. I know what good service is like. And now, since I have been to the Tribeca Grill not once, but twice actually, I know what horrible service is like. The wine list is incredible, and I used to know a $1M wine cellar backwards and forwards. The meals I had were impeccable and glorious. The architecture, the style of the interior, all top-notch. But jeez, the nights are far and few between that I as a former industry cohort feel as though tipping should be optional, except for my two nights at Tribeca Grill.

Lives up to the hype
Situated in an area very reminiscent of London's Covent Garden the decor is in an art deco style that has been carefully designed to enhance but not overpower the atmosphere of the buildings commercial trading origins. A very friendly reception was given us on arrival which continued right throughout the evening from all front of house staff. The food was excellent ( although from personal taste I like to have a garlic 'kick' in a bouillabaisse stew) and imaginatively presented. One does not need to be wary about whether the celebrity ownership involvement in this establishment might be an excuse for less than high standards! Well worth adding to your 'must' eat here list.

Excellent food and service
Booked to visit the restaurant on a sat nite and could only get a 7.30 slot so was happy that they were running a bit behind and we had to wait at the bar for 30 mins - which gave us the chance to have a drink and a chat. When we did get seated the staff apologised and gave us a free round of drinks. The waiter was very helpful and the food was served at a leisurely pace making the place feel very relaxed even though the restuarant was very busy. Food was great. Would visit again and hope that they're running behind again.

Fabulous experience!
We eat out a lot but somehow had never made it to Tribeca Grill until a couple of nights ago. What a fabulous experience! It's hard to believe we were at the same place as the previous reviewer. For us, everything was perfect, the food, the service, the atmosphere. The quail appetizer was outstanding and the short ribs absolutely tender and delicious, the best I've had in a long time. Desserts were very good too. The room is very pleasant and lively, with a decent level of noise that allows you to maintain a conversation . The service is superb, attentive and professional without being intrusive. And last but not least, their wine list is very impressive with selections for every taste and pocket. No wonder they have remained a favorite for so many years! This was our first time but it will certainly not be the last. We are already looking forward to next time.

Disappointed
I have no complaints about the staff/service (everyone was actually very nice) and the space itself is ideal. Nonetheless, the food fell well short of my expectations and gives me the sense that people go there primarily because of the impressive list of celebrity investors that own it. I have yet to encounter a restaurant that makes a less appealing blue cheese endive salad (how can someone make that un-appetizing?) The braised short ribs were stringy and the goat cheese ravioli might well have come from a frozen bag. It was almost insulting the way parmigiano reggiano was sprinkled on the top and it seemed that the chef saw fit to simply blanch a handful of spinach and toss it on the plate. Dessert was pretty good but nothing to write home about. It's really a shame because that neighborhood deserves a better flagship restaurant. Don't bother (unless you're only interested in stalking celebrities).

Disappointing evening
My husband and I went to the Tribeca Grill last week to celebrate his birthday. We had been there several times before so we thought it was the best place for a special night. The evening before I called the resturant and spoke at length about my wish to surprise my husband on that night. I was assurred they would have a cake ready and that making the evening special was their specialty! I took this at face value! I was convinced I communicated the evening I was trying to create. I was, therefore, shocked when we had our dinner, the waiter asked us if we wanted dessert and when both of us declined he presented our check. No cake, no mention this day was special. Upon getting back to our apartment I called the resturant and explained how disappointed I was that something went wrong. I was informed I was speaking with an evening manager who "understood" how upset I was and that indeed the resturant had "dropped the ball with my husband's birthday". Although she spoke the words I felt she was basically unsympathetic to my situatuion.
