I do like to be greeted

There is something to be said for a greeting at the door when you arrive. On visits with my friends and I made to Tree we were most impressed. The third time we were greeted as if we were friends. Each time, we were greeted at the door and offered a table by a Manager (I think). Mind you it was early in the week for 2 of the visits. On the Third visit it was busier and we waited at the cozy little bar up front until our 4th guest joined us. Another Manager (as he looked like he ran the show, always looking around) served us wine and we ordered a few appetizers before dinner. I really enjoyed the cozy feeling we got, the food was just about right for what we wanted, as ordered, not to fuzzy, as a Bistro should be and tasty. We tried almost everything during our 3 visits although must admit we never eat the pasta dish. We will be back again all the same. Never felt like we were rushed and the staffs were not the "annoying type". Inside looked like it had a personal memories on the walls, and showed some effort in its design, the candle sculptures (kinetic sculpture as the Manager described) took some time to make I am sure. Just hope they never fall. I will say that I thought the garden was missing something, I was not quite able to put my finger on it, but I am sure it will be worked on.

    So Disappointing!

I took my bf here after seeing the seafood over pasta featured on the food network. It was a small little place and we sat outside. When it began to drizzle they had a nice little tent they pulled over us. the beet salad and arugala salad were a good size and tasty. The wait between our salads and the entrees was way too long. Finally my special saffron pasta with mussles and clams came out and boy was I pissed. The clams were the smallest I had ever seen literally the size of my thumbnail. And there were 3 of them. Then there were 3 pathetic mussels. The saffron sauce was nothing special, it needed more flavor and the pasta was ok. To add insult to injury, people who ordered the $10 steamed mussels appetizer got literally a pot of about 30 mussles, and here I was, starving after a long wait, with the saddest clams and mussels for $18. My bf had the sea bass and said it was dry and unremarkable. I spent the night staring longingly at the mussel appetizers and went home hungry. I was very very disappointed. Our waitress was very sweet though.

    Vegetarian & Meat-a-tarian Dream

Tree was a great experience for this odd couple, my bofriend, a self-proclaimed meat-a-tarian and myself, a vegetarian, had an amazing dinner that was able to fuse and provide to our difficult situation. I started with the mesculin salad while he had the special app which was gnocci with porchini mushroom, my boyfriend still talks about how delicious it was. For entree i had the mixed roasted vegetables (which were picked for the season, it was winter so all root vegetables) with the most tasteful wheatberries i had ever experienced. My bofriend went for the braised short ribs, which he is still talking about. I find myself diligently attempting to mimic the amazing aromas which filled my mouth found in the wheatberries, it was like nothing i had ever had before.

    A Disappointment

I had a dinner date at tree and was not impressed. Our appetizers and meals took a really long time to come out (it was busy but apps shouldn’t take 30+ minutes to be brought to the table) and then when we actually got our main courses they were horrible. The chicken (mostly dark meat) and mash potatoes were very bland and the Pork Loin wasn’t any better. My mom cooks a better meal!

    Great Find

Recently had dinner at Tree and was really impressed. They have a good wine selection, and the food was creative and fantastic- we had the trout and polenta with mushroom ragu. I'll definitely be making a repeat visit.

    Love this place!

I visited tree a year ago and had a great meal. And when I went back last night - the place was as GREAT as I remembered! The outside patio is pretty nice and the food and service were great We shared the mussels to start. All 4 of us tried a different main. I had the tuna it was wonderful! One person had steak, another the risotto and somone else did the soup/salad everyine was happy. We shared the crème brule which was good too! One little thing I liked how the patio was decorated last year better - it looks kinda generic now.

    Gorgeous Garden - Mediocre Food

It seems to have gone downhill since opening. Will go back for the garden, but certainly not for the food. Last winter it was good times to sit in the little main room and eat very well-executed comfort food. Without the garden and without passable food - will they even make it through the winter?
