love this place!
I have been eating at Tre since it opened a couple of years ago, & I love it. The food is always excellent, the people who work there are friendly - I felt like family by my second visit. They have graciously and imaginatively accommodated food requests for me & my guests. I love Tre!

Inedible food
service was non-existent. waiter took our order and then never checked back in with us. fried zucchini was drowned in garlic and oil. gnocchi was rubbery and inedible. when i told the owner this, he insulted my intelligence by saying that was how gnocchi is made in naples......riiiight. all the other places in new york and italy ive been to have apparently been making gnochhi the wrong way. i told him to taste it and tell me that was what gnocchi is supposed to taste like. he didn't respond. if you want good italian food and decent service, keep looking.

Will try again..
Went today with three friends and we all order the 19 prix menu. The food quality was fresh and nice but all the food was way too salty! if there was less salt then the food would have been great. My friend order the Lentil Soup and it was too salty that she had it replace with a salad. the skirt steak was delicious but the vegetable were way to salty tooo. The service was nice. The red wine Sangria was very fresh and the wine that my friend order was perfect too. The environment is very nice but for some reason it was kind of hot even though the AC was on. I will definitely give this place a second try since the values and quality of food is nice. Hope the second time they dont abuse the salt!

Didn't even get a decent table to have a meal!
We had a reservations but when we got to the restaurant, the only table they offered us was a small table with bar stools in the bar area near the door when the temperature was about 14 degrees. The restaurant was quite empty but they said ALL of the other tables were for larger parties. We said that this table was unsatisfactory and were told that that is all they could do. The host was quite rude and did not make any effort to give us a decent table.

Great find!
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place while apartment hunting on the LES. It's a really small place, and was already full at 7:30 on a Monday night, but we were seated right away. We took the waiter's suggestion and ordered a bunch of the small street food dishes to share- Arancini (fried rice balls), Ravioli Fritti (fried ravioli filled with ricotta), Zucchini, braised eggplant, and tuna tartare. Everything was tasty, the atmosphere was fun and lively, and the price was right.
