Trattoria Pesce Pasta

All that needs to be observed about this place is the unappetizing bread that comes along with a $17 pasta dish..lol Just ordered the Lasagna Bolognese(Oh, it's one of our more popular dishes). Ate half and threw the rest out..bland, bland, bland...... No more with this place...

A friend recommended this place and we went after the movies on a Monday evening. A sign in the window indicated a 15% discount on Mondays. The waiter confirmed that this discount applied to specials also. When we got the bill there was no discount and were told that since we asked for separate checks, there was no discount because we were sitting at the same table each using our own credit card. We advised that we would leave less of a tip which we did. I left half of the tip ,which amounted to the the 15% discount. If we were at separate tables we would have gotten the discount. The amount of the tip didn't seem to bother them as much as giving us the discount. It's too bad that they did not honor their policy because the food was good and prepared well. I would have to think about whether or not I would return.

I had the grilled striped bass. It was very fresh and tender and did not need the lemon they provided. I picked the escarole side, which was garlicky and delicious. The fresh white and whole grain bread with rosemary flavored oil on the table was really nice. The other diner at my table had the spaghetti and meatballs, which for me are the best in the neighborhood. The cappuccino was great. The staff was warm and gracious and attentive. I always have a good experience at this restaurant and took the time today to let others know that I am glad that they are in my neighborhood.

My granddaughter hardly touched her spagetti with tomato sauce ($13.95 for plain spaghetti?) The "special" sole was bland and soaked in a watery sauce. The bread was a sparce serving. And that tasteless polenta must go. On the positive side, we did not send back the water. We will not return.

I've been to Pesce Pasta 3 times over the last year and a half and I've never had a bad meal there. The food is always very good. There are a ton of Italian restaurants in the yorkville district and this one is at the top of my list.

Friday night, 5 of us had a very nice dinner and desert. Food was very good , service was very good and the price was reasonable. Rare that all five people ordereing various entrees all enjoyed their meal.

The bartender here is on my Christmas List. That is how awesome he is. But sadly the quality of the food has gone down hill over the last 2 years! I used to love the Pasta with Calamari & Shrimp. It was one of my favorite dishes, but the last time I ordered here, I wondered why. Yes it was disappointing, tasteless, not spectacular. I decided to give the restaurant another try. Afterall, I used to dine here weekly. That's right weekly. After having a bad day at work, the husband and I meandered in and sat at the bar. I ordered my comfort food, lasagna. OMG, it was inedible.I couldn't eat it. A creamy tomato sauce (???), pasty noodles, no mozzerella melted on top. It was so disappointing, I didn't want to take it home. No more second chances.
