Trattoria Dopo Teatro

Two friends and I enjoyed the prix fixe lunch before the theatre. It was a miserable, rainy day, but we were cheered up as soon as we entered the restaurant. The service was good, although a tad slow. The food was good, but the menu was very limited for the prix fixe. I also think it was somewhat over-priced. We have been to the restaurant next door several times, and they have a much more extensive prix fixe menu. However, Trattoria Dopo Teatro was much quieter, and conducive to conversation. On the whole, it was an enjoyable experience, and we will return.

Went to have early dinner around 4pm with my wife and 2 kids tuesday 4/19/2011..Theres a photo shoot going on we remember...after the waiter took our order thats the last time we seen him..The food was serve by busboy the said waiter never came back to ask how are food are and if theres anything we needed...I have to ask another waiter to refill our drinks...and to top that after dinner we were not asked if we want coffee and dessert and just gave as the check..what a shame he stood up the whole time at the back by the brick wall even i tried to get his attention..we seen him leave past 4:30pm and again didn't even stopped by at our table to let us know that another waiter will be looking after us...

I had a coupon which sent me there and they seemed annoyed to honor it. Honestly, don't offer it if you don't want anyone to take up the offer. They didn't even offer to hang our coat but we had to ask and do it ourself. The food wasn't good. The 2.5 is only bc my father LOVED his. The rest of us were unimpressed. They even hesitated in lighting the birthday cake we brought and bringing it out to us. Seriously? They had to ask the manager? What restaurant in NY would do that? Last birthday lunch I bring there.

Ate here tonight with a large group. Service was subpar and the food was mediocre at best. Had to hunt the waiter down for every aspect (order food, order wine, get the check etc.) of his duties. Food was average and severely overpriced given the small portion size.

Like the reviewer before me, I had the pre-fixe dinner. I, however, had a wonderful experience, not just an okay one. Dinner was quite delicious, albeit a bit pricey (get the calamari - it's to die for). The staff was very friendly and attentive (and did ask us if we wanted coffee & dessert). The atmosphere was absolutely rustic Italian (I absolutely loved it). Perhaps all the poor reviews are because it was under poor management in the past, but in the present, this restaurant is really a pleasant place to dine. My friends and I ended up chatting for about 20-30 minutes longer after we settled the bill; they didn't bother us at all to leave. I will try to return in the future.

Went for the Pre-Dinner fixed price meal. The meal was ok (small letters). The wine list was somewhat overpriced (Hey it NYC). The service was ok (small letters again) but when we expected to order dessert a bowl of lemon sherbet was plopped down in front of each diner. Thinking it was to clean the palate we enjoyed it. Next thing the bill was dropped off without any question as to coffee (or a real dessert). Guess that was the "Dessert of the day". Actually made the mistake of tipping a full 20%. Hope they enjoyed it we'll never be back (boy do we miss "Baldoria"; it closed and we loved the meals and the great service.)

The worst resturant in NYC. period. Went with a large party for a family Holiday Lunch. VERY EXPENSIVE...TINY portions! Stay away from this place. Dopo eating there..had to go get some real food.
