    what a night!

I took some clients for dinner here, the restaurant was my recommendation. I had gone here before with my parents and thought to myself this place has great energy and it is a crowd fav!!!! Oh I forgot the food is good too. So I brought my clients here (they were from out of town) we walked in and I was welcomed like I was some big shot regular, then the waiter was hilarious and made my guests and I feel like we owned the place, and I closed a big deal that night! I will say the bill was pricey but It was worth every penny! thanks to the best staff in N.Y.C. keep doing what your doing! I'll be back.

    overrated

Food was decent but very overpriced...the room is no big deal and the service was not that good....this restaurant is completely overrated!

    Quality over quantity

First timer. Had mozzarella & beefsteak salad (appetizer), baby lamb chops (entree) and chocolate mousse (dessert). Excellent food with attentive service were the pros. Cons are that it's expensive (total for me $45) and portions small. I would still be hungry if I had the entree by itself

    Amazing food

I was there for dinner last night and it was restaurant week. The restaurant offered a 3 course meal that was a great value and the portions were not skimpy at all. I had the seafood antipasto recommended by my waiter and it was absolutely delicious. My entree was the snapper fillet in tomato caper sauce baked in a clay dish which was to die for. I would definitely go back again and again.

    Overpriced

I took my son and daughter for lunch because I had eaten here several years ago. I felt it was very overpriced but the food was good and service was just ok even though the restaurant was not crowded at all.

    Really Italian

We went to restaurant week lunch and the food was great. The chef is really from Italy, and the antipasti are fantastic. The maitre d's are very nice, but there was a designated waitress who seemed to be an actress and not a serious concerned professional and who seemed to have too many tables. The bus boys and others filled in and they were helpful. Why don't restaurants just hire the bus boys to wait on tables - who have a more serious attitude? Will definitely go back but recommend they fix the service problems.

    Yes, it's good, but...

I have been at Trattoria a few times, and every time I have a nice enough experience, and yet think the place is a bit overrated, and most importantly, overpriced. Sure, it's across from Carnegie Hall, and the food is good, if not particularly inventive. The service is also up to par, and yet the atmosphere isn't intimate or friendly. A mixed bag, worth it once in a (long) while.
