    Who Are These People Kidding?

We had reservations and were well dressed, but the ditzy hostess offered us a cramped table in a dark spot, even though the restaurant was almost empty. That was the high point! A chipped plate of three small pieces of burned bread and 6 olives was delivered for two, the pastry of a spinach pie was almost completely raw, and the same piece, now burned on the outside but still raw in the center, was brought back to us as a "replacement". Octopus was dry, needed salt, and was a laughably skimpy portion at $16. The nothing special wine was exorbitantly priced. And our whole fish, at $70, was so overcooked it was falling apart and flavorless. Need we say more?

    rediculously priced sagria!!

a few of my friends and I saw Trata and thought it was a perfect place to stop by for a light refreshing drink while sitting outside. The wait staff convinced us that the sangria was great so we ended up ordering a pitcher. Indeed it was good, enough for a little more than 1 glass per person, so when the waiter asked if we wanted more we thought, why not?! Well, we get the bill and each pitcher of sangria was $75! I have NEVER spent that much for a pitcher of wine with fruit, and thought it was rediculous that the price was not told to us ahead of time. I've lived in the city for a few years and I have never seen a price so outrageous, especially for a restaurant on 3rd ave! This was the most absurd restaurant and I blame those wait staff for pushing the sangria without explaining the price. I will NOT be going back there and I recommend others the same.

    Mediterrean Style at a Price

Purportedly Greek with an emphasis on seafood, but actually 'Generic Mediterranean' in decor, menu selections, food preparation and presentation. The sidewalk cafe is a treat in warm weather. Welcome is usually pleasant but the service is very spotty. Portions are huge -- most dishes, even the salads and appetizers, can easily serve two hungry diners; food quality is uneven; noise level can be deafening; and the final tab can be a real shock, especially if ordering fish by the pound. All Greek wine list with some delightful choices, but, as with the rest of the menu, overpriced.

We walked out - nuff said

i have lived in the UES for 4 years now and always wanted to try this place. finally my folks were in town and we were in the mood for some high end seafood. we were seated immediatly. nobody even came over to us for 30 minutes. finally we ordered the appetizer and main course. 35 minutes later the waiter assured us our mussels appetizer would be right out. 25 mins later they came out and tasted like chewing gum. its as if the mussels were steaming for the whole 1 hour plus we were waiting for them. they agreed to take them off our check and just bring the main course. 25 mins later, no main course and this is where we just lost our patience. i went over to the manager and explained the poor service and food and said we were ready to leave and would pay for the 2 iced teas we had received thus far.

    What a great dinner!

We went for the prix fixe dinner on a Friday night. Better than any of the restaurant week specials, this offered three selections each for appetizer, main, and dessert, and they were things we'd have chosen off the fanciest menus: vegetable moussaka, monkfish with seasonal vegetables, etc., all beautifully presented. The clean, fresh look of the restaurant and attentive service all made the evening a real standout. This is an elegant place for a really festive and special meal.

    Easter sunday every year

We travel to NYC to visit family every year, and for the past 3 we have been coming to trata for their easter dinner - (the cathedral is right down the street - very conveneint) ... Yes the prices are high, but the food is always top quality, and this is the upper east side, what do you expect.. I only wish we could come more often, as it is now we only make it for the easter event. Wine list is all greek and superb. Service has always been very good as well.

    Pass - go elsewhere

This resturant is very weak. The food is just not worth the prices being charged. Very overpriced. The lamb served for Easter was fatty and rather simple. Not worth the outrageous price that charged. And the practice of automatically charging a gratuity for a party of five is shameless.
