good food/subpar wait staff
The food and the prices were decent by NYC standards. The waiter was just down-right rude. I have not experienced that kind of service in years and will not go back.

Rude waiter, forced tipping
First time here, with some friends from out of town. Our waiter was rude, arrogant, and snotty. The place was noisy and I couldn't squeeze into my seat. The food was mediocre. I couldn't get the "special" and was forced by the waiter to eat a mediocre pasta bolognese that has soggy noodles and mystery meat sauce plus an $18 price tag! No bottle of wine on the menu that was drinkable for less than $50--and the waiter criticized my attempt to keep our wine bill under $100. At the end, I was considering how poorly to tip when I saw they had already added a 20% tip to my bill--without telling me! Stay away from this place...many better in the theatre area.

Wonderful food
We had a pre-theater dinner at Tramonti based on the recommendation of our concierge at the Doubletree. We were not disappointed! The food is terrific. I had the Fettucine Bolognese (been thinking about it ever since), my husband had the gnocchi and he thought it was wonder, and my granddaughter had the Rigatoni with four cheeses and there wasn't a drop left on her plate. The mista salads were large, fresh, and delicious. The place isn't cheap, but it's not exorbitant, either. Servings are large and the food is authentic. I'm Italian; I know good Italian food. I've also been to Italy, so I have something to compare it with.

Super restaurant!
Really liked Tramonti! We were walk in's and although the place was busy, we were seated immediately. The wait staff were friendly, polite and efficient. Food was great and good value. We had arugula salad, fresh, nicely dressed and plentiful, and the best pizza outside of Rome. Husband had a gorgeous, creamy, homemade ice cream I was just too full and had a really tasty coffee. Lovely, cosy, busy atmosphere. We will definately eat here again when we're in the city.

Superb
The atmosphere was great. The service was excellent and the food was very good. The calamari was simply devine. We had 4 people. 2 appetizers were sufficient for all. Pasta for all with dessert and expresso. the bill was $130 including tax. You can't beat that!

Hold on to your Wallett
Made the mistake of not asking what the price of the special lunches were. The waiter did mention they were not the same price as the separate specials menu. Lunch for two (two Pasta's, two Salads, two coffees, 1 house wine, 1 desert) came to over $100.00, I have been to much better restaurants in NYC, both parties getting wine and the price was in the range of $70-$75, I felt dumb and taken. The coffee was awful, the salad good and the Pasta fair.

Terrific food, plesant decor
We went to Tramonti before the theater and thought the food was excellent. We both ordered the arugula salad with orange and fennel. Terrific! I had the beef and veal lasagne which was surprisingly light and extremely flavorful. My partner had talapia fish in a wonderful brown sauce. Prices are reasonable given the high quality of the food. The staff is professional and very friendly. Tramonti is a cut above the typical Theater District restaurant. Highly recommended.
