This place is perfect.
Townhouse is absolutely my favorite diner in NYC. They treat me like family, remember my regular order, and always greet me like I'm an old friend. Walking into the Townhouse is usually the highlight of my day on Saturday and Sunday mornings. And having compared their egg and cheese sandwiches to all the other local joints, theirs is always the best. Highly recommended.

Friendly oasis, good food.
I will not comment on my fellow reviewers' commentary regarding prices. This place does have excellent food, however, and is quite friendly. It's refreshing that they appreciate their customers unlike many diners in the neighborhood. It's spotless and the counter service is great.

Great Food and Service!!
You cant ask for more in a dinner!! The food is amazing, the service actually comes with a smile, and the price is just right for midtown!! I used to walk by the place every day and decided to stop in one day ... im glad I did. The menu is quite extensive, not just cheeseburger and fries. The family that owns the place is wonderful they make the astmoshpere comtorable and welcoming. If your looking for a local dinner that hits the spot, the Townhouse is the place.

Not recommended
We used to eat here 3-4 times a week, until we really processed how absurdly expensive it is. We regularly spent $27 plus tip on a fairly simple breakfast for two (eggs, pancakes, potatoes, bacon, toast, and 2 OJs--not fresh squeezed) which is insane for a Murray Hill diner with flourescent lighting, vinyl booths and fake plants. One time I made the mistake of ordering steak & eggs, which constisted of a few pieces of sliced meat with eggs (clealy a cheap cut of meat, at that) while my friend ordered his usual pancakes. The bill came to $53!! We could not believe our eyes and that was the last straw. Let me put it in perspective--a recent egg breakfast for two at Balthazar cost us $32. That includes gourmet espresso and fresh squeezed orange juice.

Great food, excellent service....
When it comes to diners, the main thing is the food...in this case it's as good as it gets. On top of the great food, the service is always top notch. As a matter of fact, I've been ordering there for @ 8 years and they always go out of their way to be friendly and treat you like family. Recommendations: greek salad, chicken sandwich on pita, all of the omlettes, cheese burger deluxe and the pies are great! If you live in the neighborhood it is a must for late night ordering and stopping in for brunch on the weekends. If you are not from the neighborhood, it is worth the visit, before you head through the tunnel.
