    flawless

there are 5 sushi restaurants within the 2 block radius of where we live. last week we tried all of them and totoya is the clear winner. the first time we ate in the restaurant and then just last night ordered in. our experience dining in the restaurant was great. our waitress was very nice and the atmosphere is very relaxing, nice lighting and a good attention to detail. the sushi was fresh and clean. beautiful, flawless fish!! sushi sekki is a close second, just too long of a wait for take out and the dining room isn't as comfortable.

    Keep coming back...

I first ate at Totoya a year and a half ago and I have yet to find another sushi place on the UES that holds a candle to it For the price of the sushi, you get great quality fish in good portions, creatively prepared and served. If you're looking for a busy restaurant atmosphere, this is not the place for you, it tends to be less than half full on almost all the occasions I've eaten here. But, I have never been disappointed. I have been disappointed by a number of other sushi places on the UES. Try this place, you'll love it!

    yummy sushi

I live nearby and i stopped in here to get sushi to-go. The waitress was very helpful in helping me pick something and even gave me a glass of water while i waited. I had an alaskan roll and one of the special eal rolls, they were both very good and i asked them to make it with brown rice, which they did! I will definitely return.

    Good Hood Sushi

I have to disagree slightly with the previous assesment while this is good quality sushi, seki across the street blows it away in turns of ingenuity and overall, I've got a fat slab of toro saying this place ain't flying it's fish in from Japan.

    Neighborhood Standby

I live in the neighborhood and find this to be a great value. Sushi and sashimi are always fresh, service is friendly and attentive, and delivery is speedy. Sushi Seki is across the street and while it may have better brand equity, the prices are 2x Totoya but the food quality is not.

    great neighborhood sushi

i've come to rely on this place for reliable yummy sushi in a hurry. not a destination for sushi, but the service is friendly, attentive, and an overall good value. The maki rolls are generously-filled, and the sushi and sashimi are fresh for both delivery and eat-in orders. My favorites are the spicy scallop roll and hot chili yellowtail. Only one or two occasions have i been served a roll with the rice still warm, but overall, a great place.

    Oz-one Layer

It was such fun and the lovely waitress from Tibet so sporting. Everyone seemed happy, the fportions were good and plentiful, and the extra chair came in handy for our coats once we shed frigid First Avenue. The lights had dimmed and we wondered if they were always peacably so and their gentleness was mirrored in the busy hush of conversation and everyone's preoccupation with deft, fresh food.
