Go for the pizza, disregard the atmosphere
I've been to most of the great NYC pizza places reviewed by consumers and critics and Totanno's definitely belongs on the list. The crust had the perfect balance between substance and crunch. The slight char on the crust adds a rustic charm to the taste. The cheese and sauce were perfectly portioned and the sausage and mushrooms were fresh and nicely cooked. Yes, the place isn't fancy, and yes, the pizza is served on paper plates. But the friendly employees made up for that with good service. I've been to the Totanno's on the East Side of Manhattan as well as this one in Coney Island now. Let's just say it's well worth the trip to the end of Brooklyn.

Somewhat overrated pizza
Totonno's is a small simple restaurant, serving whole pies only on styrofoam plates. Despite it's modest facility and location, the prices are somewhat steep, owing perhaps to it's reputation. As for the pies, the crusts are excellent but, at least for this reviewer's experience, the toppings were sparse and dry.
