    Nice roof. That's about it.

A group of us went here for a co-worker's going away party during happy hour. From the start it took us about 15 minutes to get our first drink, beginning a tradition of slow, unreliable service for the whole evening. The food came quickly, but somehow was already cold. The fried calamari was like fried rubber rings. The chicken spring rolls were basically cold meat mush inside a chewy shell. At first we had about 9 slow waitresses occasinoally stopping by, and though the one who finally decided to stick with us was nice, we were still pretty dissatisfied. At least the roof had a nice view and a cool breeze. Maybe this place is better late at night, but don't bother during happy hour!

    Great rooftop

The only reason to go to Tonic East is for the rooftop bar. There are plenty of seats, as well as room to stand around, but it gets crowded fast. The service is slow, especially on a nice day. The food is great, although a bit over-priced. Try the tater tots or the combination platter!

    Fun place

Fell in last night around 9:30pm. We went directly to the rooftop and found a table, as it had yet to get packed. Our waitress was courteous and attentive. I had the seared ahi, and my wife the ahi tartar. The food was fine, and had a couple of beers to go with. By 10pm, the place was totally packed, mostly college kids. It was nice being outdoors, and for $50 bucks, overall a good experience.

    Nice place to have lunch

I went with a couple of friends to have lunch and found it to be a very nice place. The atomosphere was great. And the lunch menu was fantastic! You cant beat a huge chicken ceaser wrap with fries and a salad for 5.95. The food and service was really good. The only thing is the wait for the food to come. It was pretty long considering that it wasn't many people there. But I rather wait then to have something uncooked. Overall it is a really nice place to go

    Great Time!

Awesome place! I had my birthday party here and we all had a blast! We ordered a bunch of appetizers which were really good....Definitely try the crispy shrimp. The music was fun and the staff were very friendly. They really took care of me and my friends and made my birthday special. I would definitely go back again!

    What else could go wrong...

It is what it is- a place for men to go watch a game and drink beer. Our service was poor and I don't know if it was because I was a girl in a generally male bar or if it's just the norm. Our waitress rarely came by to see if we needed anything, we waited over 30 mins. for our food in a restaurant that was not busy, I received the wrong order when our food came and not only did it take another 15 mins. for my correct order to come back but our waitress didn't seem to have the nerve to apologize for her mistake and to bring me the new order. Having said that, the food was pretty good but the portions are small. Try the chicken salad sandwich, it's a great twist on the norm. After we finished our meal our waitress was quick to see if we wanted our check. Bottom line, if you're a guy just expecting to go in and get some beers you should be fine but if you're some one that expects decent service it may not be for you.

Could the food portions be smaller?

This is a typical NYC expensive sports bar. Beers are $5 per bottle or $6 draft. Wine is $6+ per glass. Cocktails start at $9. However, my fiance and I decided to order dinner here as well. I ordered the skirt steak with wasabi mashed potatoes and he ordered the chicken rigatoni. The plates came out and OH MY. Could my skirt steak be any smaller? It was at max 4 ounces. So tiny I was astounced. It tasted ok, but was so small I had to go home and make myself a second dinner. I'm only 5'3" and 125 lbs, so I don't eat much, but this was beyond ridiculous. If a restaurant/bar is going to serve food, and can't afford to put out a normal size portion of something, take it off the menu and put on something you can fill a plate with.
