Making Harlem kinda better
Their panini's are awesome. Their brunch is just ok. It seems like they're trying too hard at making regular breakfast. Like the omelette which had way too much spinach and it wasn't cut up so it was just really stringy, and the ham was not properly cut as well. Remember simple is better.

Sophisticated, Chic, Cool
I went to Tonalli when it first opened its doors, before it had a liquor license. Went there one more time and not being overly moved, didn't return until recently. What a shock! Tonalli is in my view fully grown up, with an awesome atmosphere. I love the addition of the bar. The lighting is great, the seating is great, banquettes, good bar seating and even live music. I LOVE that I don't have to leave my neighborhood to go to a great bar or restaurant. The food is now better than ever and the bartender is good and very nice. If you haven't been, you MUST! It's just a great homey place, you will not feel weird if you go alone and you'll be proud to bring your downtown friends here. A+

Badly needed in the nabe
I was very happy to discover this place, as there are no nice restaurants in this neck of the woods--or in the head or shoulders, either. Nice decor, friendly atmosphere at the bar--I think the customers are all grateful locals, like me. The food was very good, the menu not heavy Italian, and they were glad to make changes and substitutions (I'm a notoriously picky eater, so this is a definite plus). The service, however, was so poor on my first visit that I hesitated to return for fear of getting the same waitress. I'm glad I went back, as she wasn't there and the server we got was very competent. Oddly, of the 4 women who attended us in one way or another on both occasions, 3 were noticeably self-conscious and insecure. That said, I'm glad I gave it a second shot, as the food and atmosphere really warrant staying in the neighborhood rather than trekking down to the UWS, where prices would be higher (not much, though!) and the place much more crowded.

Absolutely Delicious!
Just ordered for the first time. Wonderful service, prompt delivery and delicious piping-hot food. Keep it coming! I will be ordering from this place A LOT.

Delivery
My husband and I have lived in the neighborhood for over 2 years and have just discovered this place. We have not actually been there, but ordered delivery for the first time tonight. We had the Tropicale salad & the Salmon with mash & veggies. The salad was YUMMY! The salmon was very good as well and all very reasonably priced. We're looking forward to actually dining in soon!

great uptown restaurant
One of my favorite restaurants-nice atmosphere and decor with consistently excellent food and service-Although I only eat fish, I have eaten here over a dozen times and never been disappointed. Staff are friendly and efficient. They also sponsor neighborhood events, jazz on Thursdays and best of all for me, it is within walking distance of where I live. Go Tonalli!!

Not if you're really hungry...
The lobster ravioli is tasty. However, it took over 1 hour to arrive and the portion was not impressive. In addition, I had to reheat it.
