    Bk CLASSIC

Great food but more importnatly the atmosphere is the best. You're part of the family. Worth the wait. I recommend the harvest pancakes with a side of pork sausage.

    just another happy customer

a friend took me here one random weekday morning. it was like going home to the experience of being in a movie about home. everyone who works there is beautifully wonderfully warm and treats you like a cohort. the food is what it should be and it's just so pretty and cozy inside. the lady who refills your coffee reaffirms you no matter how ragtag you may appear to the rest of the world. dining as therapy.

Toms restaurant a Classic gone Wrong

Always ordered breakfast here and its ok, but there's other cafes near that do not have a line around the corner, and there food is of much better quality. Was just home reviewing Toms restaurant on menu pages and figured I would order from them it looked ok for lunch. I called and heard the phone ring twice then nothing, then a man comes on the phone and asks hello. I say I would like to place an order, and he begins to yell and say "why you an't answer when I said hello to you over three times. now hold on." he drops the phone. Then someone else comes on the phone and and tries to take my order. I proceed to give him my address for a delivery and I inform him my number has a (347) area code, and he proceeds to argue with me that 347 doesn't go anywhere it must 718. After 5 MINUTES!!! of going back and forth I tell him to cancel my order (I didn't even tell him what I wanted to eat yet), he said fine I don't your order anyway. Not cool.. will never call again.

    best restaurant breakfast ever!

This was absoultely the best out breakfast of all time, if you don't mind a little crampedness. The sweet potato pancake, home fries and beef sausage tasted like at home. The vanilla egg cream and ricky were superb as well. I don't usually like to go to restaurants more than once, but I see myself coming back 2-3 more times with family members and friends

Such a refreshing style of dining!

Wow i've lived a few blocks from Tom's for over a year now and just went for the first time and I hope to be back again soon and many times...I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it is to find a great Ma & Pa's-type-place in the New York area. I am definitely a food-whore and love dining out though not picky, but after living in new york and having the typical dining experience over and over, it is so refreshing to walk into a place where everyone wants to meet you and be sure that you have a great time. The food was great.... Pumpkin & Walnut pancakes with the apple cinnamon butter was fantastic! (good sausage too). If you are one who appreciates an old, authentic aesthetic that other places can try to immitate but don't even come close, this is your place. If you can fully appreciate walking into a historic place and instantly feeling like a part of the neighborhood because of friendly smiles and casual chit-chat, you will love Tom's. And the fact that the food is good definitely puts this place over the top. I will definitely be back very very soon.

    Not recommended

i have lived next door to tom's for a while and i'm always amazed at how long people will wait outside, in the cold for the just ok food. i get that it's an institution, but the food elsewhere is so much better!

    I'm impressed...

It was a rainy afternoon, just after 4, and I was hungry. Heard about Tom's through menupages, so I called to see if they would deliver to me. Well, they stop delivery at 4 and it was 4:12... but whom I'm assuming was Tom just sighed and said, "Okay, whatcha want sweetie?" I ordered my rather odd meal... coffee, burger n fries, and a milkshake and in a matter of 15 minutes (seriously, 17 max) it was at my door step! Doesn't get much better than that! Well actually, it kinda does... The total was just over $10! So, of course I gave the delivery guy 100% tip due to the rain and the low cost. All in all, best service... and the food's pretty good, too.
