I recommend getting cheese fries and a milk shake. One of the few diners left that will bring out the whole metal cup of your shake rather than just giving you a glass. The cheese fries are also a tasty treat. The rest of the food is just typical diner food. Good place to hang out after hours, but beware, the service can get a little dicey especially late into the night.

They used the outside in Seinfeld but it's NOT the diner in Seinfeld. Have you ever been to Cheers in Boston? Doesn't look anything like the tv show. With Tom's I have no idea what tourists are trying to do by going there...just look at the outside... Let us locals inhabit the place because we understand that a diner is just a diner. Tom's is a diner...an old NYC diner where the food ranges from good to middling, the service is usually subpar and there are tourists in there for no good reason...

Each time I'm in the big apple, I start my mornings with Tom's Restaurant. I admit, the first time I went there was to see the diner famous from the Seinfeld show. It's become sort-of-a tradition for me now. I've only ordered breakfast items, so I can't rate the lunch/dinner food. The breakfasts have been so-so to really good. Just depending on what ya get. The french toast is really good. Great coffee too. Toast & hash browns good, but I didn't care for the omelets. I enjoy sitting at the counter more than a booth. You receive SUPER FAST service at the counter....compared to waiting at the booths. Would I got back....Definitely! Like I said, it's become tradition for me. I always order something different too. I might have to try a milk shake for breakfast next time!

I walked down broadway this morning expectly to satiate my hunger for steak this morning. I entered ignoring the warnings on the site advising me against ordering steak. But my desires overcame me and i ordered the complete sirloin steak meal. First off my clam chowder was not. And the waitress claimed it was, but no. No clams. As i sliced my steaks with forks, i realized it was beef patty. And now, after devouring my meal, all of my meal, and a lot of starch i am now drunk off potatoes and lying in bed under the guidance of my friends. Tom's was fun and the people around the booths were very amusing to watch. but now my belly hurts. But ill probably go back again. it was fun.

This place is way overrated, just because it was in Seinfeld's. The food isn't good, and it's overpriced for such mediocre quality. The menu is very limited - they don't even have mozarella sticks or onion rings.

I have gone to Tom's I don't know how many times. Twice, I think, I ordered real dinner food like spaghetti w/ marinara sauce and some other thing and my bf did the same and we were very unsatisfied. If you go in to get burgers, fries, breakfast, milkshake, and that kind of stuff, you'll like it a lot. But other than that it's not too good. But try other stuff, you might have a different taste of what is good or not. After all, there has to be another reason that it's been there for so many years, not only the fact that it's the latest thing open so hungry students like me have no other choice. Hope you like!

I live near Tom's, and it's great to meet up with friends late at night for coffee. It is not a great place to go when hungry however. If you order a hamburger, they'll bring you soup. If you order an omlette, they'll bring you the chicken special. In fact, whenever I take out of towners there, I tell the waitress, "Just bring me whatever you're wanting to give me," because I kinda think the philosophy of the wait staff is that they know what you should eat better than you. And they sure as heck don't care if they get the order wrong. I think they feel gratified to know that your burger craving has been screwed over by the soup.
