Toro Kakuni is soooo good
Have been here 5 or 6 times. It is a strange phenomenon that standing in the line just increases your appetite and makes the sushi within this establishment all that much better. No super fancy roles or dishes, just fantastic fish. They must have the best fish picker in the whole city....

Incredible food
Short and sweet, the best sushi I have ever had. I have converted many friends to only eat in this establishment. My friend drives from western Jersey to pickup lunch at this place. The best sushi.

Best sushi in NYC
I don't care how much this place costs it is worth every penny. The sushi melts in your mouth. It is the perfect temperature, flavor, and size. Just perfect. If you crave great sushi, and oyu KNOW what great sushi should taste like, this is the place.

The Best
Tomoe sushi is like a local restaurant in Tokyo. The owner had an oppotunity to expand his restaurant triple in size but refused to do so to maintain the quality. Whoever said this place is average or bad are newbie in sushi and knows little about sushi/sashimi. If you cannot taste the difference, the local sushi boy or the yama sushi around the corner is good enough for you.

When are the best pieces the biggest also. Not about the scene. Only wait if you LOVE prime sushi. If you want a fancy place with california rolls, or can't tell MacDonald's from Luger's go elsewhere.

The best sushi in new York
So far it's the best I've had. The wait is always worth it.

Disappointed
I first went to this place because I heard such solid reviews, but neither I nor my friend were very happy at the end of our meal. For really good Japanese sushi (Tomoe is tinged with Korean influences here and there) at slightly lower prices, try Marumi.
