Know how and what to order here...
It took me a few times to figure out how and what to order here. If you stick with the apps, you'll make out better then if you choose the mains. I usually order one truffle cheese crisp ($14), one tamale w/pork ($9) and the brisket tacos ($9). The tacos come two to an order and are fairly small. Actually, all three of of these items are not huge portions, but they all taste fantastic! Oh, and you will leave satisfied if you take my advise. My girlfriend and I always drink a lot so our check is high no matter what we order to eat. Order smart and you'll come back again!

A disappointing lunch
I met a friend from lunch here and walked in with good expectations. The atmosphere seemed decent and the menu looked interesting. Unfortunately, the dining experience was a letdown for me and my friend. We waited for a while before somone came to take our order. We both ordered tacos (carne asada for me pescado (tilapi) for my friend. When they came the tacos looked puny next to the mound of rice and beans. They were in fact really small. My friend took one bite of hers and declared that it didn't taste good and was too fishy. My taco's were ok but nothing special. As we were still quite hungry we decided to try desert. I can't say what we ordered but I can say it didn't meet expectations. Both my friend and I were looking forward to the sorbet that went with the desert that was supposed to have jalapeño in it. First we didn't get sorbet second we didn't have any jalapeño in it. The rest of the desert was pretty good but the disappointment of the sorbet overshadowed it.Overall I was disappointed with the meal (except for my friends company which was great) and probably won't go back.

Perfecto
I've tried all of the creative "nuevo" Mexican restaurants in the City and being completely honest, the food here takes the style to another level. It may not be completely traditional, but it's inventive and full of flavor. The veal cheek tacos will make you swoon! The suckling pig is on par with some of the finer American/French restaurants plating this pork. Oh, and the margaritas, get the jicama & basil one. They all pack a punch, but this one was my absolute favorite. I agree that it isn't an inexpensive restaurant, but if you want to celebrate in a casual environment with great (and different) food and drinks, I highly recommend Toloache.

great dinner
Too many people complaining about leaving hungry need to realize that the menu is built around small, tapas-style portions. When I went with my girlfriend I ordered a ceviche, a "botano" of tamale with crispy pork, and 2 small tacos, plus chips w/guacamole & dessert. It was a satisfying amount of food and everything was delicious. A place like this can't be compared to a cheap Mexican place, where the value will always be better but the variety & quality aren't there. I'd definitely return.

Stop reinventing traditional mexican food
I came to the restaurant recommended for a friend, but I was really dissapointed. The same food now is selling everywhere. The food that is sold in other small restaurants for the half price that I paid here. Really overpriced. What happend people be creative, original, is exactly the same food you found in Maya, mercadito, zocalo. We paid more than 100 dollars, very expensive. Mexican food is really richer in flavors, is more simple and not complicated.

Can I Have Some Food Please
After spending over $100 with only one drink for each of us, my husband and I had to go across the street to Rite Aid for a bag of candy because we were still hungry before our show.

Faaantastic
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and it was a very enjoyable evening from start to finish. The margaritas were tasty andd had a good kick to them. The entrees had delicious flavoring. Toloache is a great new spot for Mexican food! Highly Recommended!
