I had dinner here this past Saturday night with a group of friends. We arrived at 7:30 without a reservation, and even though the place was packed, they were accomodating and seated us quickly. The ambiance was nice, as was our server, who did an excellent job given the fact that the place was full. The one criticism I have is that the pasta portions were a bit small given the prices, though what they lacked in size they made up for in taste. The pizza, on the other hand, offered better value, and they actually serve you a nice selection of bread before the meal. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you're looking for good food and wine on the Upper East Side.

We LOVE it here. The food is consistently delicious and keeps us "coming back". As previously mentioned, the pizza is wonderful...very light and flavorful. We also recommend the Portofino pasta dish...it's heaven on a plate. The portions are decent and we usually split a pizza and the pasta for dinner. Yum yum. This is a great neighborhood spot that you MUST try.

First of all, there is no pizza like it. The thin crust is not too soft, nor too crunchy. The tomato sauce is sweet and the cheese is salty so the counter each other for a heavenly taste. The caesar salad is delicious because they dont have too much of an anchovy flavor. I love it here. It is great for delivering too.

Um, sorry, I'm shocked that so many people actually like this place. But there's no accounting for taste, is there? I guarantee that the positive reviewers are not Italian, nor Italian American. The best thing about the meal was the rather economical glass of Valpolicella. But the salad was inedible. It was spoiled because it was a bit old and had been sitting in the refrigerator and was probably wet. I couldn't eat it. The pizza with sausage had a thin crust but the sausage was ground and not tasty. The cheese was fake mozzarella.

And the pizza is always delicious! A good neighborhood place.

Although some of the food is on the more pricey side, it is very delicious and unique. However, the service leaves much to be desired. We were rushed out after dinner with people hovering and glaring at us (we had JUST paid the bill, so we weren't sitting around for hours AND there was no one waiting to be seated). My friend barely had stood up when they descended upon us to clean up the table. I mean, our purses and leftovers were still on the table! Speaking of leftovers, my friend had some avocado and seafood still in her pasta when she finished but when she went to eat the leftovers, the only thing in there was pasta! Really, quite disturbing.

Tirami su is perfect for a neighborhood dinner. Nice atmosphere, good solid food (fresh salads, wonderful pizza's, original pastas/risotto's, good fish/steaks), and nice service. We have been there 5 or 6 times with friends from out of town that want a neighborhood spot and have never been disappointed. It's really worth a try -- Tirsmi Su is casual, good, and a lovely spot.
